2 more weeks into the superworm experiment. The wheat bran only bin gained 121 grams for a total of 242 grams. That is 100% increase in weight in 2 weeks. Can't complain about that. But the wheat bran / chick starter crumble mix bin and the chick starter crumble only bin are still growing equal to each other at an increase of 148 grams in the same 2 week period from 160 to 308 and 307 grams. They grew an extra 27 grams compared to the bran only bin. Still feeding the same weight per feeding of the same foods. I have upped the weight to 50 grams as of today. I feed every 2-3 days. The humidity in the room is at 36%. Celery, apples, potato, stems from greens we feed our reptiles. All 3 bins are very active anytime I look at them. Had to clean out the frass again today as they ate through most of the substrate in all bins and Sundays are my maintenance days. Getting ready to order some more to start a test of the wheat bran / crumble ration. Thinking that I want to check 50/50 vs 75/25 and 90/10.

Update on the superworms experiment. After 23 days the bran only test is the slowest growing. At an increase from 55 grams to 121 grams. Both the all crumble and 50/50 bran chick starter crumble are at 160 grams each from 55 grams. That's a significant difference. The average size of the worms is bigger for these bins. More fell through to a smaller sifting screen in the bran bin when sifting to weigh. I didn't separate the frass and weigh by bin but got a total weight for the 3 bins frass of 474 grams. All 3 bins have been getting the same weight of food at the same time and the bins have been rotated between 3 adjoining positions each feeding to compensate for possible environment factors. So I feel the 50/50 so far is the winner cost wise per growth.

This is the bowl i use for my dubia roach bins. I can keep the water crystals, dry food and any wet food or veggies separate. I print them at different scales depending what size bin I'm putting them in. Since they are 3D printed the roaches can climb them no problem. This is the one for my new colony of 100 adult female and 25 adult males. I add something to the wet food portion about every 2-3 days. The dry food about once a week and the water crystals once a week or as needed. I like to let them have options so they can get what they need.

Started a new experiment. Received 2000 1" long superworms today. (Half shown on the scale) decided to break up into thirds. First third in wheat bran bedding, second third in non medicated chick starter crumble and last third in 50/50 mix. All bins started with 55 grams of superworms and will be housed and feed the same. Let's see who grows best.

Turn volume down. Here's the current proof of concept video. Need some fine running. White bins are there just for testing. Need to build a table under for trays. the concrete vi****or was way overkill. It was throwing worms all over the room. Had an old sawzall I don't use anymore. Lots to pretty up and tweak but I think it works.

Started designing a sorting machine to help streamline processing mealworms and superworms. This will be mounted to a wooden frame and tilted at a slight angle. I have a concrete vi****or that will shake it to cause them to travel down hill and fall through the appropriate slots into tubs that will be underneath.

Its been a while but I'm back to raising mealworms and superworms. May start Dubia's and nightcrawlers as well. Will most likely take a year or so before I can start any real sales. Last time I tried I sold too much too soon. May have a couple crested geckos and a few weeks.
