On Tuesday evening we said goodbye to our most devoted friend. He left us peacefully while laying in Andrew’s arms.
Toby was our first dog together, he was the beginning of the rest of our lives. Toby loved bread. One Thanksgiving he ate a whole bag of Costco bread rolls. He grew to be the most amazing dog. Our golden child. He was the kindest and most loving dog to everyone who knew him. He loved to go to work with Andrew, everyday they would load up and head off to training. Toby helped teach other dogs to be good, like him. He was so happy working. When he was diagnosed with cancer, we knew he would have to slow down. So we gradually started taking him to work less and letting him rest more. He settled into his new routine nicely. He had regular ultrasounds and a few surgeries, but he was enjoying retirement. When his health started to decline more rapidly, we knew it was time to prepare for his passing. We threw him a celebration of life party, we took spontaneous trips for a cheeseburger, and gave him all the extra belly rubs he could handle. We gave him a wonderful life, but he gave us so much more. We are forever grateful for the blessing that he was to us. And although our home will never be the same, he will always be deep in our hearts. Enjoy heaven big guy, we love you. We’ll see you on the other side.
