We are incredibly thankful for these local Anderson businesses who have stepped up to support Anderson County PAWS by hosting donation boxes for the month of January 🐶🐱

🐶💔 We need our community’s help — today.
Our shelter is currently overwhelmed with puppies and large dogs, and kennels are full. Many of these dogs have been waiting longer than they should, growing up in the shelter while hoping someone will choose them.

Every single adoption makes a difference. When one dog goes home, it opens space for another animal in need — and right now, that space matters more than ever.

Just a reminder that our January Daycation Challenge is still going strong! 🐶💛

Our shelter dogs are loving their breaks from the kennel — and we still have plenty of pups waiting for their turn!

No long-term commitment. Just one day of walks, naps, car rides, and love.

🐾 Foster Favorite → Ready for Her Forever Home 🐾

Bear just returned from foster, and her foster family had nothing but amazing things to say about her. 💕 They kept her over the holidays, took her on hikes, brought her to events, and spoiled her with lots of love — and she truly shined outside the shelter.

Now, sweet Bear (10 years young!) is hoping that her next stop is her forever home.

✨ A little about Bear:
• House-trained
• Didn’t need a kennel — she happily slept on the couch while her foster was away
• Food-motivated and very into snacky snacks (yes… even unattended fries 👀)
• Great recall and respects boundaries
• A clingy cuddle bug who also enjoys relaxing on her own bed
• Not a huge fan of men at first, but warms up with patience and space
• Tolerates cats as long as they don’t mess with her tail
• Rides great in the car
• Does well with children, but prefers her tail not be touched
• Excellent leash manners — squirrels and birds are tempting, but she never lunged or barked at dogs she passed
• Not big on toys, but loved bouncing around and playing outside
• Knows sit, leave it, paw, lay down, and hug (a total crowd favorite 💕)

Bear did so well in foster and truly deserves a calm, loving home where she can thrive and enjoy her golden years. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s equal parts cuddly and independent, Bear might just be your girl.

🌟 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH SPOTLIGHT 🌟

We are so excited to recognize our January Employee of the Month — and a true shelter favorite! 🐾

She has been part of our PAWS family since August 2025 and serves as a Lead in our Intake Department, where she plays a vital role in welcoming animals into our care and making sure they get the best start possible.

Her favorite part of the job? The animals we get to care for and the coworkers she gets to work alongside every day 💕
Her favorite shelter pup is Galaxy because of her incredibly sweet personality — a perfect match obviously!

Outside of work, she enjoys sewing, crocheting, and horseback riding, and if you’ve ever met her during a visit to the shelter, you already know just how kind and sweet she truly is.

We are so grateful for her compassion, dedication, and the heart she brings to our shelter every day. Please help us congratulate our Staff Pick Employee of the Month! 🎉👏
