Looking back on Bo’s show journey so far has me especially grateful that we entered that first IABCA show in June of 2025.
At just 4 months old, Bo went to his very first show in Lawrenceville, GA. My goal wasn’t points or ribbons—I simply wanted to see how he handled the environment and hear a judge’s evaluation. He walked into the ring with confidence, loved the attention, and wasn’t bothered by the busy atmosphere at all. He was awarded Best of Breed and Toy Group 2, and it gave me a really good sense of the kind of dog he might grow into.
Since then, Bo’s journey has been a fun one:
• June 2025 – IABCA, Lawrenceville, GA (4 months old)
First show experience. Best of Breed and Toy Group 2.
• November 2025 – AKC Perry, GA (9 months old)
First AKC shows. Reserve Winners the first day, Winners Dog & BOS the second, and Best of Winners the third—earning his first AKC point.
• December 2025 – AKC National Championship & Biewer Terrier National Specialty, Orlando, FL (9 months old)
A rough start with car sickness kept him out of the Specialty, but he bounced back the next day and earned his first major (5 points) by going Winners Dog at AKC National Championship.
• January 2026 – AKC Pendleton, SC (10 months old)
At our local Clemson Kennel Club weekend, Bo earned his second major (3 points) by going Best of Winners.
• March 2026 – AKC Lawrenceville, GA (13 months old)
A big weekend—Bo picked up his third and fourth majors, finished his AKC Championship with 11 total points, started earning Grand Champion points, and also placed BBE Group 3.
• May 2026 – AKC Fletcher, NC (15 months old)
Bo went Best of Breed both days, earned two more Grand Champion points, and placed BBE Group 4.
Looking back, I’m really thankful for that first IABCA show and the opportunity to get a thoughtful evaluation from Leslie Webb Tinsley. If you’ve shown with IABCA, you know there are lots of young puppies there getting their first ring experience, and it can be such a valuable learning environment.
I tend to space shows out because, well, they are expensive and I want my dogs to enjoy being dogs at home while also building positive ring experience. Right now I’m showing Bo and Moravia, and Nova will be joining us soon. My goal has always been for them to enjoy the ring, feel confident, and hopefully do well along the way.
Bo has made me proud every step of the way, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for him.
I’ve also been so thankful for the support of friends and fellow exhibitors through all of this. From the very beginning, when I was honestly terrified and showing Foxxy (who made no secret of not loving the ring 😅) I’ve had people cheering me on, sharing handling tips, and offering constructive feedback that’s helped me learn and improve. That kind of encouragement has meant more than I can say.
And to Adam who is always there supporting me when dog shows bore him to death 😂. 🤍🖤🤎🐾
