As forests and natural habitats become smaller, many wild animals are forced to search for food, water, and shelter closer to where people live. Bears, deer, raccoons, coyotes, and other species are increasingly appearing in neighborhoods as a result.
When habitats are fragmented, animals lose important feeding grounds, travel routes, and safe places to raise their young. Items such as unsecured trash, pet food, and outdoor leftovers can attract wildlife looking for easy meals.
Simple actions can help reduce conflicts. Securing garbage, bringing pet food indoors, cleaning up food waste, and supporting habitat conservation efforts can help people and wildlife coexist more safely and peacefully.
