Our girl Mia has officially launched into her forever home—and by the look on her face, she might think she's heading to space instead!

Her new human? Cool as a cucumber. Looking like they just stepped out of a NASA training video. Honestly, we’ve got a dream team here.

Wishing them a lifetime of belly rubs, joyrides, and adventures that (hopefully) stay earthbound.

Houston, we have a successful adoption. ❤️

Thanks to their loyal support, we’re able to rescue, heal, and rehome animals all year long. They’re basically the peanut butter to our Kong, the shade to our sunny nap, the ice cube in our water bowl. 🐕

🐾 Meet Noel 🐾
This 1.5-year-old sweetheart arrived at our Adoption Center with a little twist—her profile had said she was “strictly an indoor cat,” so imagine our surprise when she showed up calmly walking on a leash and harness.

Turns out, her previous family was in the middle of moving and couldn’t find her carrier. So they improvised—with a harness and leash. What’s even more impressive? It was Noel’s first time wearing one. You wouldn’t have known it though—she walked right in with grace and waited patiently to be brought to her catio.

That’s Noel in a nutshell: gentle, adaptable, and full of quiet confidence. She’s affectionate, easygoing, and would make a wonderful companion in just about any loving home.

🐾 Princess 🐾

Meet Princess, our soft-spoken senior sweetheart who’s been with us since the end of April. 💜 She’s been spending most of her time tucked away in her catio, quietly observing the world and taking her time to feel safe.

But when Princess decides you’re her person? She melts into your hand with gentle licks and slow blinks. She’s the kind of cat who doesn’t need a lot of fuss—just a warm sunbeam, a cozy perch, and a human who sees the beauty in patience.

Princess has FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), which she contracted as a stray kitten from a bite. Because of this, she’ll need to be the only cat in the home unless she’s adopted with her sweet sibling Koda, who is also available!

400+ Days and Still Waiting

Shiva is officially our longest resident at the Alaska SPCA. Over 400 days have gone by… and this sweet, soulful girl is still patiently waiting for her perfect match.

Shiva has special needs that make her adoption a bit more selective—but we believe with all our hearts that her person is out there. She’s incredibly loving, affectionate, and so ready to bond deeply with someone. She just needs a home that understands her:

🏡 Needs to be the only pet
👩‍💻 Ideal for someone who works from home or is retired
🚫 No kids in the home (but she does well with children in public or visiting!)

Shiva struggles with separation anxiety, which means she needs a consistent, calm environment where she won’t be left alone for long periods. She gives so much love, and she truly shines when she has the stability and companionship she craves.

You did it! Our community stepped up for pets like Bear and in honor of Gov. Sheffield. They matched the $7,000 gift!

In honor of your incredible generosity and encouragement—here are some more pictures of Bear, a lovely senior gentleman, spending his golden days relaxing and enjoying his fospice (foster/hospice) home.

Pets like Bear need people like you, and we are so grateful for your dedication and generosity. Support from our community makes this all possible—the second chances, the new beginnings, and the moments when compassion and care is needed the most.

For our Matching Gift Challenge in honor of Gov. Sheffield's birthday, we have a Bear update!! Bear is a 13-year-old sweetheart who lost everything when his owner passed away. When his brother was adopted, he stayed at the shelter and over time, grief took a toll on his already fragile body. We knew we needed to find a place of peace for Bear during this final piece of his journey. And we did!

Bear's now enjoying comfort and love in a fospice (foster/hospice) home, spending his final chapter wrapped in care and comfort. Look at him roaming in his stroller!

His fospice family shares:

"In the 10 days Bear’s been with us, he’s made himself right at home. He is excited to wake up every day, always smiling, and knows exactly where we keep the treats! He likes belly rubs, naps on his cooling bed, and cuddling on the couch. He’s also been enjoying the summer sunshine with short walks to the mailbox and stroller rides around the neighborhood! Bear is a gentle and easygoing guy who’s happy to be doing just about anything, as long as it’s with his people.

Though our time with Bear may be short, we believe he has a lot of life left in him and are grateful for the opportunity to provide him with a comfortable place to spend his precious, golden time. Bear has already brought so much laughter, fulfillment and joy to our own lives, we can only hope that living with us is doing the same for him."
