Welcome to Day 3 of Paws for Wonder!

Happy tails for Rosie! 💛 This beautiful German Shepherd spent time with the Alaska SPCA more than once. She has a lovely heart and sweet personality, but she does struggle with anxiety and that means she needs just the right home to land in. Thankfully, we had space and time to give and we are happy to share that she has been adopted and is settling in, where she’s the love of her new family. Stories like Rosie’s are possible because of our amazing supporters—thank you for helping make happy endings happen! 🐾

It’s Day 2 of Paws for Wonder and today’s story is Payton! Shy little Payton spent only a few weeks at the Alaska SPCA, but it was enough to lead her to the perfect home. Now she has come out of her shell and spends her days sunbathing, playing with her favorite spring toy, and exploring everything. Her adopter says, “It has now been about 6 months since I brought her home and she has been the perfect little friend for me.”

And just like Payton needed a little nudge to blossom, a matching gift challenge donor has decided to join us and give you a little nudge as well. This generous community member has offered to match gifts made through December 29—up to $5,000!

As the holidays approach, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible humans behind the scenes at our Veterinary Clinic 💙🐾

Our compassionate veterinary team works tirelessly all year long to keep our animals healthy, comfortable, and cared for—from routine checkups to lifesaving treatments and everything in between. This holiday season, we’re making a few schedule adjustments so our amazing clinic staff can enjoy some well-deserved rest and time with their loved ones.

We’re so grateful for your understanding as we adjust clinic hours during the holidays. Your continued support allows our veterinary team to recharge and come back ready to provide the best care possible for the animals who need us most.

🐾 Why Street Outreach Matters 🐾

Our recent Street Outreach at Davis Park was a powerful reminder of how deeply people love their pets—even when access to veterinary care is out of reach. Traveling with our Mutt Mobile, our team met community members who do everything they can for their animals, but often lack basic resources. Street Outreach bridges that gap, helping keep beloved companions healthy while strengthening the human–animal bond that means everything to these families.

Thanks to generous donors and partners, we provided vaccines, wellness exams, food, leashes, coats, and blankets. The need was so great that supplies were gone within two hours.

In 2025, our Street Outreach team supported more than 125 pets and their families within the unhoused communities. This giving season, your support helps us continue showing up—protecting pets, honoring the bond they share with their people, and delivering care where it’s needed most. 💙

🐾✨ Are you ready to kick off our Paws for Wonder campaign? Each day from now through the end of the year, we’ll share the story of a pet who found their second chance at Alaska SPCA’s shelter and adoption center. This campaign is a chance for us to celebrate the wonderful and indelible power of the human-animal bond; while raising funds to keep Alaska SPCA’s programs running strong into 2026.

Now, let’s get started— here is the first story!

You may remember Theo. He is a sweet 6-year-old who waited 114 days at the Alaska SPCA before finding his new family. We knew Theo had a heart of gold. We also knew he had a little way to go in the doggie manners department. His exuberance and enthusiasm wasn’t a great fit for everyone, but we kept the faith that his perfect match was out there. And we were right. Theo is spending the holidays at home with his new family thanks to supporters like you!

🐾 Paws for Wonder is all about celebrating moments just like this one — the incredible successes that made 2025 brighter for Alaska’s pets. As we head into our year-end campaign from Dec 25–31, take a “paws” with us to appreciate how far these animals have come… and help us make even more wonderful moments in the year ahead.

Jynx is a 5-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who proudly lives life like royalty, complete with an infectious happiness and legendary wiggle butt for days. Seriously—this girl is happy at all hours of the day, and she’s not shy about showing it.

🆘 Fosters Still Needed — Please Share! 🆘
🐶 Skye & Her 10 Puppies Need Help 🐶

Our hearts are full as Alaska SPCA recently welcomed Skye, a gentle Husky mix mama, and her 10 adorable puppies, estimated to be 5–6 weeks old. This sweet family is still in need of a foster home where they can stay together and continue to thrive.

Finding fosters during the holiday season can be tough, which makes this need especially urgent. A calm, loving home would make all the difference for Skye and her babies as they grow stronger each day.

Our foster families truly make our work possible, and we are so grateful for everyone who steps up when animals need it most. Even sharing this post helps more than you know. 💙
