On a cold March day, police officers discovered an emaciated dog that had been left outside in a crate that was too small for the dog’s size – they immediately contacted animal control. If not for the quick actions of the police officers and the animal control officer, R***r surely would have died.

When the animal control officer saved him, she noted that he was covered in urine and f***s, but she was so moved by this little guy, she didn’t hesitate to pick him up in her arms to carry him to safety.

Subsequently, American Belgian Malinois Rescue (ABMR) received an urgent email asking if they could take a 4-month-old puppy that was just brought in as a part of a neglect situation. The photos they sent were heart wrenching.

Awww heck, what’s one more litter of puppies—said no rescue ever.😩

There are so many lessons to be learned that it seems no one is learning. Please don’t go out and get a dog with your new boyfriend or girlfriend. In just the last month, we have taken in three dogs whose owners were splitting up and neither wanted the dog. How is that even possible?

The mom of these sweet babies was taken in after her owners split up. Surprise surprise, she was already pregnant and soon gave birth to six puppies.

Again…spay and neuter and please make informed decisions about adding a new family member. They are for life.
