This sweet little guy was surrendered to the Palmdale shelter along with his brother. Then his brother was adopted, leaving Gizmo behind.

We don’t want Gizmo’s story to end there. He is a 4-year-old, 14.2 lb Shih Tzu, and we’re looking for a committed Southern California foster to help us bring him to safety. Transport can be arranged.

He deserves a soft bed, a loving home, and the chance to start over—not more days in a kennel wondering where his family went.

Can you be the person who helps change Gizmo’s story?

This week at the vet 🩺🐾

From rechecks and diagnostics to surgery and specialty care, these pups spent their week collecting gold stars (and plenty of treats) for being brave patients.

Every appointment helps us keep our dogs healthy, comfortable, and one step closer to the lives they deserve. Thank you to our fosters, volunteers, and supporters who make this care possible.

Veterinary care is one of our biggest expenses. If you’d like to help us continue saying “yes” to dogs in need, please consider making a donation at bichonrescuebrigade.org/donate

Happy Father’s Day! 💙

These faces represent many of the dogs currently in BRB care - dogs who were once lost, neglected, abandoned, surrendered, or simply out of options, and who now have a second chance because someone stepped up for them.

From young pups to seniors, medical cases to hospice fosters, every one of these dogs is part of a village built on compassion. If you’d like to help write the next happy ending, we’d love to have you join us as a foster, adopter, volunteer, transporter, or donor.

Formerly known as Herb at Downey, Bailey’s story is one we know all too well. Found wandering alone, covered in foxtails and matted fur, he arrived at the shelter scared, overwhelmed, and unsure of the world around him.

Bailey joined us on Saturday and is now getting the chance to decompress and receive the care he needs before we begin searching for his forever home.

Huge thank you to Lynn U. 🇹🇭🇺🇸 for his freedom ride, The Reyes Fur Pack for opening your home to foster, Thomas and Sharing the wonderful dogs of Downey ACC and friends for advocating for dogs like Bailey.

Rescue doesn’t stop when a dog leaves the shelter. For many of our dogs, that’s when the healing begins.

This week, BRB dogs had:
• 9 vet visits
• 1 abdominal ultrasound
• 1 neuter
• Bloodwork, diagnostics, and ongoing medical treatment
• Specialized care for everything from pneumonia and skin disease to eye infections and GI issues

Some visits are routine. Others are urgent. All of them are essential.

Medical care is one of the biggest expenses in rescue, but it’s also one of the most important investments we make in giving these dogs the healthy, comfortable lives they deserve.

Thank you to every donor, foster, volunteer, transporter, and supporter who makes this care possible. Because of you, dogs who once had nowhere to turn are getting the treatment, comfort, and second chances they need.

To help fund future medical care, donate through the link in our bio or visit bichonrescuebrigade.org.

Welcome to BRB, Mac 💙

When we saw Marcel at the Lancaster shelter, we knew we couldn’t leave him behind. Now safely in BRB care, this fluffy little guy has a fresh start—and a brand-new name to go with it.

Mac is about 2 years old, 16 pounds, and small dog friendly. Like many shelter dogs, he’s still learning that the world is a safe place again. Mac will do best in an adult-only home that can provide patience while he builds confidence.

Mac is in a temporary foster home in Palmdale, but we’re searching for a committed Southern California foster willing to care for him until he’s adopted. Transport can be arranged, DM us if you can foster.

Welcome to BRB, Zuzu 💜

When we said yes to a little gray-and-white dog at the Palmdale shelter, we had no idea we’d be bringing home a tiny white dog instead. 😆 After a much-needed shave, Zuzu revealed her true colors—and she’s every bit as adorable as you’d imagine.

At just 9 months old and 9 pounds, Zuzu is playful, social, and loves everyone she meets. Welcome to BRB, sweet girl. Your second chance starts now. ✨

Just days ago, Dolly was sitting in a kennel at the Lancaster shelter, waiting and wondering what would come next. Today, she’s safe in foster care and beginning her fresh start and will see the vet this weekend.

At just 2 years old and 17 pounds, Dolly has so much life ahead of her! A huge thank you to Jennifer for giving Dolly her freedom ride out of Lancaster, and to Lulu for opening your home and heart to foster her as she begins this next chapter.
