After what feels like a very long and difficult few months, we finally have our page back. During our time away, we have experienced so much heartbreak — loss, multiple vet emergencies, personal health struggles, and even more bunnies being dumped on us unexpectedly. To say it has been a difficult season would be an understatement.

Despite everything, we are so thankful to be back and able to continue sharing our remaining bunnies with all of you.

We also want to take a moment to recognize the people who have stood beside us through the years with kindness, love, encouragement, and support for our buns. Thank you. Truly. Your support has carried us through some of our darkest times.

We have struggled a lot lately, but for the first time in a while, we can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. We have found a sanctuary for our remaining senior bunnies, and our few adoptable bunnies will be ready over the next couple of months as they finish being spayed/neutered and vaccinated.

As always, thank you for continuing to care about our bunnies and our rescue. We appreciate every single one of you more than words can say.

Right now, our biggest need is help with utilities. It costs us around $600 each month for electricity and water. Keeping our older bunny garage cool during the summer and warm during the winter takes a lot, and these costs have become incredibly difficult for us to keep up with.

If you are able to help in any way at all, we would be forever grateful. Even sharing our post helps us tremendously. ❤️🐰

🐰 Why Bunnies Are NOT Easter Presents 🐣

Every year around Easter, countless baby bunnies are purchased on impulse as cute holiday gifts. Sadly, many of these same rabbits end up abandoned, neglected, or surrendered just weeks later. Here’s why rabbits are not good Easter presents:

❌ 1. Rabbits Are NOT “Easy” Pets

Bunnies are often seen as low-maintenance starter pets—but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
They require:
• Daily feeding (fresh hay, greens, pellets)
• Regular cleaning (litter boxes, enclosures)
• Social interaction and enrichment
• Specialized veterinary care

They are fragile, sensitive animals, not toys for children.

⏳ 2. They Are a LONG-Term Commitment

Rabbits can live 8–12+ years with proper care.
That’s a decade-long responsibility, not a temporary Easter novelty.

💸 3. They Can Be Expensive

Proper rabbit care includes:
• Spay/neuter surgery
• Emergency vet visits (which are common and costly)
• Ongoing food and supplies

Many families are unprepared for these expenses.

😢 4. Many End Up Abandoned

After the holiday excitement fades, shelters and rescues see a surge of unwanted rabbits.
Domestic rabbits cannot survive in the wild—abandonment often leads to suffering or death.

🧠 5. They Aren’t Always “Kid-Friendly”

Rabbits:
• Do not like being picked up
• Can scratch or bite if scared
• Need gentle, patient handling

They are better suited for calm, supervised environments—not young children expecting a cuddly toy.

❤️ 6. They Deserve Thoughtful Adoption, Not Impulse Buys

Adding a rabbit to your family should be:
• Researched
• Planned
• A family decision, not a surprise gift

Adopting from a rescue also helps save lives instead of supporting breeding mills.

🐰 A Better Easter Idea

Instead of gifting a live animal:
• Give a stuffed bunny 🧸
• Sponsor a rescue animal
• Donate to a local rabbit rescue
• Educate others about responsible pet ownership

💔 Rabbits are living, feeling beings—not seasonal decorations.
Let’s protect them by making thoughtful, compassionate choices this Easter.

We NEED your help please!!!!

We truly hate having to make another post like this… 💔

So many of you have already helped us recently, and we are beyond grateful. We wouldn’t be here without you.

But we were just hit with a major, completely unexpected emergency. We discovered a serious roof leak in our bunny garage—the space where our sanctuary bunnies live. It’s something that can’t wait, as it directly affects their safety and living conditions.

The repair is going to cost around $8,000, and we had to put down half today just to get it started… money we truly did not have to spare.

We are trying everything we can—working on a GoFundMe and reaching out to our local community—but donations have only been trickling in, and we are feeling completely overwhelmed right now.

We hate asking. We really do. But we are in a really difficult spot, and we need help.

If you are able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean the world to us and to our bunnies. If you can’t donate, sharing this post helps more than you know.

Thank you for always standing by us, even during the hardest times. ❤️

Today was cleaning day here at Lucky Bunny Rescue… 🐰💔
And while everything looks tidy on the outside, behind the scenes we are really struggling.

Every pen you see in these photos represents a life depending on us. Fresh hay, clean spaces, safe enclosures… we work so hard to give them the best care we can, no matter what we’re going through.

But the truth is—we are in a really scary place right now.

Our rescue account is in the negative…
Our PayPal is completely drained…
And we are doing everything we can just to keep going day by day.

On top of that, one of our senior bunnies is not doing well right now. 💔
We are watching closely, doing everything we can to keep him comfortable, but our hearts are heavy and we are so worried.

We don’t share this lightly… and we truly hate asking…
But we desperately need help.

We have given everything we have—our time, our energy, our personal finances—and right now we just don’t have anything left to fall back on.

If you’ve ever thought about helping, today is that day.
If you’ve supported us before, please know how deeply grateful we are… and how much we still need you.

Even the smallest donation helps us keep the lights on, food in their bowls, and care going for our sweet seniors who have nowhere else to go.

Please… we are asking from the bottom of our hearts. 🙏

A few days ago we experienced one of the most heartbreaking rescues we’ve had in a long time.

When we came home from running bunny errands, we found a box left at the entrance to our rescue garage. Inside was a momma bunny in the middle of giving birth who had been dumped there.

It was immediately clear she had been severely neglected and was extremely malnourished, which likely contributed to the complications she was experiencing.

She quickly went into severe distress and could not deliver the remaining babies. We rushed her to the emergency vet where they had to perform an emergency C-section and spay her at the same time to try to save her life.

Sadly, three of the babies did not make it, and although four had been delivered earlier, they were extremely fragile.

Despite the vet’s efforts and everything we tried to do to help them, both momma and the surviving babies have now sadly passed away. We are absolutely heartbroken.

Because this was an emergency, we had to pay a large portion of the bill upfront that night, using funds we desperately needed for our other responsibilities and for caring for our remaining sanctuary bunnies. The emergency bill was over $2,000.

Thankfully, we were able to get the bill paid, but doing so has left us very stretched financially, and we are still in need of help to recover from this unexpected expense.

It is devastating knowing she was simply abandoned when she needed help the most.

If anyone is able to help us during this difficult time, we would be incredibly grateful. Every bit truly helps right now.

Thank you for always caring about our rescue and our bunnies. 🐰💔

We honestly don’t even know where to begin.

The last few months have been some of the hardest and most heartbreaking we have ever experienced.

First, our Facebook account was hacked, which cut us off from our community and the main way we communicate with supporters. Around that same time, our bank account was hit with fraud and over $3,000 was taken. We are still fighting to get that money back.

Then we unexpectedly lost our sweet Willow. Our hearts are still shattered. Losing her has left such a painful hole here.

Even though we are closed and not taking in bunnies, people continue to dump them on our property. Recently another bunny was abandoned here and, due to severe neglect and malnutrition, she gave birth to five stillborn babies. She had to receive emergency veterinary care.

It has been one heartbreaking situation after another.

Because we lost access to our page for a while, support and donations nearly stopped, but the reality is the bunnies here still need food, hay, litter, and medical care every single day.

At the same time, I have been dealing with serious health issues, going in and out of the hospital and attending many doctor appointments. My husband, who is our sole provider, has had to miss work to stay home and help care for our kids, the bunnies, and me.

We have always tried to carry as much of this burden as we could ourselves. We have used our personal funds, our savings, and even credit just to keep the rescue going for the bunnies who depend on us.

But right now… we are truly in one of the darkest and most frightening places we have ever been.

We hate asking. We always have. But right now we genuinely need help.

If you are able to donate, send supplies, or even just share this post, it could make a huge difference for the bunnies who still rely on us every single day.

So many of you called it, but we truly hoped and prayed this was going to happen.

Devastatingly, the donor who was going to do our donation match has backed out. We are heartbroken and honestly still in shock. We were counting so deeply on that match to help carry us through this year.

On top of that, several donations we were expecting never came through as some pledges were ultimately withdrawn, so we never even came close to reaching our goal. It’s been an incredibly tough and discouraging situation.

That said, we are beyond grateful for those of you who have continued to stand by us and support our bunnies. Your kindness has meant more than we can ever express.

Right now, we truly need extra support. We had been relying on those funds, and losing them has left a big gap. If you’re able to help in any way, it would mean the world to us and to the bunnies who depend on us every single day. 🤍🐰

Happy New Year!

We can’t begin to express how thankful we are for the love and support you’ve shown our bunnies over the years. Truly—none of this would be possible without you. You’ve been there for us through the hardest days and the sweetest moments, and we are so incredibly grateful for every kind word, share, prayer, and donation.

As we step into a new year, we are praying with all our hearts for gentler days ahead. Last year brought far too many vet emergencies and far too many heartbreaking goodbyes. We lost more of our precious furry family than we ever imagined, and each loss has left a mark on our hearts. Caring for senior and special-needs bunnies is a labor of deep love, but it also comes with so much emotional and financial weight.

We will continue to show up for them every single day, doing everything we can to keep them comfortable, safe, and loved for as long as they are with us. And if you feel it in your heart to help support them as we move into this new year, even the smallest donation truly makes a difference and helps us continue this work for the bunnies who still need us.

Thank you for standing with us, for loving our bunnies, and for being part of our rescue family. We are endlessly grateful for you. 🐰💛
