I am not trying to create a political discussion here, but I do want to raise awareness about this proposed bill in the CT legislature .

The bill will limit medical providers from discussing, offering or providing ANY information about medical credit cards.
In the veterinary world, this would primarily be CareCredit.
CareCredit IS EXPENSIVE. They charge high fees to the customer, and to the medical provider. But it has a place, because they provide credit to individuals who otherwise may not be eligible for a credit card or other financing for medical (veterinary) care.

Limiting access to this line of credit will decrease pet owners ability to pay for veterinary care. CareCredit is the only way for some people to pay for emergency services for their animals.

No one is obligated to use CareCredit, but sometimes it is the only option.

There has already been a public hearing on the bill, but it is not too late to contact your state legislators and voice your opinion on the potential consequences to animal care if this bill passes.

I received this text as a well intended joke today and it made me want to say thank you to all of our tremendous Connecticut Equine Clinic clients.

We value the relationships that have developed over the years (or decades).
From the happy “looks great” routine exams to hardest of decisions when those times come.

We are proud to know you better than your “Doctor” does .

The picture is of JIMSONWEED. It is highly toxic to horses.
Due to our drought, grass is dried up and weeds may be taking over in your paddocks or dry lots .
Please pull this out if you see it.
Normally horses would leave it alone, but if it’s the only thing green, they could get curious .

The leaves can be as large as oak leaves. The flowers stand out from the base of the plant, and there is a spiny seed pod.

We want to thank Dr Betsy Lordan for spending the day with our Connecticut Equine Clinic vets and assistants.
We worked through the cold and blustery wind refining our anatomy knowledge and ultrasound skills.

With all of the ice, don’t hesitate to spread used bedding on it. It melts into the ice and sticks, providing traction .
