What a sweetheart! Luca, the adorable golden retriever, came in for his bath and tidy. With his dryer anxiety, I adapt my approach to keep him calm. Using the right drying tools and techniques makes all the difference.

The temporary purple stain on my hands is a small price to pay for the experience gained. Practicing creative grooming on Metro's feet was a blast, and he's now spring-ready. I'm super grateful to his owners for being on board with me using Metro as a guinea pig for my professional development. In the future, I'll be rocking gloves like a pro, lol. Hyperkeratosis in Pets: What You Need to Know

As a groomer, I've seen my fair share of hyperkeratosis - a common skin condition causing rough, crusty patches on pets' skin or paw pads due to keratin overgrowth. Initially, I was taught to work around it, but I've been learning more about its underlying causes, and it's clear that education is key.

Signs to look out for:

- Thickened skin or paw pads
- Crusty or rough patches
- Cracks or fissures
- Discoloration

Hyperkeratosis can be caused by genetics, nutritional deficiencies, allergies, or skin irritations, but it can also be a symptom of more serious health issues like autoimmune disorders, hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, skin cancers, or neurological conditions.

If you suspect your pet has hyperkeratosis, consult with your veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment. They'll help determine the underlying cause and develop a plan to address it.

Stay informed, stay proactive, and keep your furry friends healthy!

Cookie Crumble, the lovable Doodle, a reminder that every pet is unique! With anxiety higher than her fursiblings, I adapt my grooming approach to ensure her safety.

One challenge? The dryer sound terrifies her! To keep her calm, I had to cone up with a creative solution: drying her in a crate with a velocity dryer through the bars (rather than using a kennel dryer) this way, she's secure and comfortable.

As a groomer, I prefer to minimize crating, but sometimes it's the best option. It's a reminder that each pet's temperament is different, requiring flexible approaches and tools.

I'm proud to have found a solution that works for Cookie.

Rocky, who is part of one of my favorite doodle families, came in for his spa day!

I love how the Hydra brighten whitening shampoo makes his coat glow. You wouldn’t know he was a dusty boy from playing before his spa day. He is such a gentle boy and knows when it’s grooming time, and is perfect on the table and in the tub.

Always love seeing my doodley furry friends.
