So proud of Ollie! What a cool story!
Good News Telegram #66
Meet Ollie Maude! The hero dog from Sargent who just may have saved a man's life last Friday night.
Ollie Maude is a "squirrel-loving, 5-year-old West Highland Terrier." Terry & Ron like to call her the President of the Neighborhood Watch. If there's a window, Ollie's lookin' out of it.
On the night of April 25th, all the humans in the house were sleeping. But Ollie sensed something was wrong. Just after midnight, Ollie started barking and she wouldn’t let up.
All the noise woke up Ron. Ollie Maude led Ron to the back door, then quickly raced through the dog door. Ron stepped out onto the deck, and looked around. That's when he heard the voice of someone. It was the neighbor lying in the alley by the back fence.
Turns out their 74-year-old neighbor had taken a tumble and couldn't get back up. He had been laying outside for a while.
Ron (and I'm sure Ollie helped as well) got the neighbor on his feet and back into his home.
The neighbor has a hurt knee but is okay. As for Ollie Maude, she's still ruling the house and looking for some squirrels.
Terry says, "Ollie was pretty proud of herself. This little modern-day Lassie saved our neighbor here in Sargent."
Stay tuned.. there's more! This entire incident was recorded on a surveillance camera! I'll post that later today! (4/29/25)
