👉🏻 Let’s talk about the pectoral muscles 👈🏻

The pectoral muscle group of the horse is comprised of four separate muscles: transverse pectoral, ascending pectoral, descending pectoral and subclavius. These muscles are commonly categorised into superficial pectoral (transverse and descending), deep pectoral (ascending) and subclavius.

As a bodyworker I find tight pectoral muscles can cause lots of behavior changes in horses:

🐴 girthy when tightening up the girth
🐴 use to more forward freely and now sucks back during work
🐴 was happy and content in work and now unhappy, pinning ears and not moving off your leg
🐴 tight through the shoulder and withers
🐴 not wanting to lift their back up
🐴 rearing in work
🐴 have difficulty going up or down hills;
🐴 be reluctant to pick up a lead or tend to swap off or cross-canter;
🐴 hang a leg over fences;
🐴 have difficulty with banks, drops and ascending oxers—obstacles that require extra "reach" in front;
🐴 show reluctance when asked for lengthenings or tempi changes
🐴 tires quickly, because he has to work against the tightness to go forward.

Muscle movement or "twitching" during a PEMF session is caused by improper bloodflow or sensitivity/inflammation.

The electromagnetic fields are hitting "resistance" as they pass through the body, and bouncing back to the surface in the form of the movements along the horse's back seen in the video.

When horses show signs of release during a session, it let's me know that they are enjoying their treatment and relaxing.

During a session, we look for:
🔺 Licking & chewing
🔺 Yawning
🔺 Stretching & cocked legs
🔺 Soft eyes
