Today we made the difficult decision to put Trixi to rest. She had been making improvements up until yesterday when she started taking a turn for the worse. As one last effort, we tested her T4 and SDMA. Her T4 was normal, indicating no hyperthyroidism, and her SDMA had increased, indicating kidney failure.

I’m brought comfort by the fact that we were able to give Trixi love and comfort in her final days and that we put everything into giving her a chance. Trixi was such a fighter and was always ready to greet us and beg for attention. She’s crossed the rainbow bridge into brighter, pain free days. 🌈🐾☀️

We are humbled by the love and support we’ve received for Trixi. Thank you for everyone that fought alongside her. Without the support from you all, we would not have been able to give Trixi the highest level of comfort and care available for her.

Today we took Trixi home. This news isn’t good nor bad. The truth is, we still don’t know if she will make it. She will continue to need heat therapy and constant monitoring to make sure she’s eating, gaining weight, and staying warm. Hypernatremia is the current diagnosis based on her high sodium, dehydration, and neurologic symptoms, but it is hard to say without a clear history or knowledge of what she’s been through. We are hoping and praying for improvement in the next few days since we have to consider her quality of life now and into the future.

It breaks my heart speculating what Trixi has endured before she came to us and what she’s enduring now because of it. These kinds of rescues are emotionally draining and always leave you wondering “am I doing the right thing?”

Lastly, these rescues are expensive. Draining the vet funds faster than they can come in. Hoping maybe there will be a grant out there to help assist, but knowing the likelihood is low and even lower that we will receive it. I’m proud to say that are only $300 away from covering her initial vet expenses. But, if Trixi pulls through, there are more expenses to come. So we aren’t asking, we are begging, please donate what you can, share Trixi’s story, share this post. It’s the only way we can keep giving Trixi the best shot at making it.

TRIXI UPDATE

Trixi is still battling hypothermia and weakness. After being given a 50/50 chance of surviving the night, Trixi pulled through with major improvements. She is standing and eating on her own. Doctors hope to run diagnostic tests today to search for any underlying conditions aside from the malnutrition while continuing heat therapy and IV fluids.

We are EXTREMELY grateful to everyone who has donated so far. We were able to raise $525 in just under 24 hours. We will continue to need donations to support Trixi’s continued care.

EMERGENCY FUNDING NEEDED!!!

Trixi came to us today in very poor condition. We immediately took her to the vet to be hospitalized. She is hypothermic, severely dehydrated, and likely anemic. She’s getting warmed up and iv fluids with round the clock care.

All donations at this time will be put towards Trixi’s hospital bills. We are desperate for your help. If you cannot donate, we ask you to share this post.

Donations can be made on our website. Scroll to the bottom of the page for our donation form.

This sweet couple needs our help! This pregnant mama and her baby daddy are living in a small pasture with no shelter. In order to take in this pregnant pair, we’re going to need some serious funding. A separate pig pasture was one of our spring/summer goals, but that goal needs to get expedited in order to help rescue these babies!

A pig shelter alone is $500 and that doesn’t include the fencing and feed costs. Every dollar counts. Let’s get these piggies the home they deserve.

Guac (6 month old, male) is the last kitten left and he doesn’t understand why he’s all alone now. Guac has a warm-up period, he’s shy when he’s in a new and big environment. If you can open your heart and home up to Guac, he promises that even though he’s shy at first, he’s a very cuddly, loving, playful boy.
Guac is fully vetted and ready for his furever home. It breaks my heart that he is still here and all his other litter mates have been adopted. Message us about Guac today, find us on Petfinder, or visit our website to apply to adopt Guac today!!

“When it rains it pours” is a very prevalent expression here on the farm. Cheddar, a senior cat we rescued at the end of December is anemic and is considered borderline kidney failure- she’s undergoing treatment and will need repeat blood tests and urinalysis’s to monitor her progress. Latte, our sweet rescue goat sustained trauma to her leg and will need an X-ray to rule out a break. And Loki, our spunky mini rescue cow is starting to show beginning signs of pink eye. All that being said, our vet fund is depleting and QUICK. A large majority of our funds go towards getting all our animals fully vetted and maintained. And it’s through you guys that makes that possible.

If you can donate to our vet fund, you will actively be helping Cheddar, Latte, and Loki receive and continue treatments and recovery.
