🎉🐍 Congratulations to this sweet girl on finding her forever home! 🐍🎉

This beautiful Purple Motley Sunfire reticulated python came into the rescue a while back and quickly stole our hearts with her calm, gentle personality.

We’re happy to share that she has officially made her way to her forever home in North Carolina! 💛

The second photo shows her settling in and enjoying a nice soak in her new tub after her overnight flight.

🐍💛 Looking for a Forever Home! 💛🐍

Meet this gorgeous girl, a surrendered reticulated python with a sweet personality and a lot of potential. She was previously labeled a “Purple Motley Sunfire” and is estimated to be around 5–6 years old.

She may be a bit on the smaller side right now (about 7–8 feet) due to being underfed in the past, but with proper care, nutrition, and consistency, she’s expected to continue growing and thriving.

✨ The good news:
She has completed quarantine, is healthy, and ready to find a knowledgeable, loving home!

💡 Care Facts for Reticulated Pythons:
• One of the longest snake species in the world
• Require large, secure enclosures as adults
• Thrive with proper heat gradients (mid 70s cool side, 88–92°F hotspot)
• Benefit from regular feeding schedules and fresh water
• Intelligent snakes that can become very handleable with consistent, calm interactions

Hey everyone—meet Valentina, our 2-year-old Mexican beaded lizard! 🦎✨
This incredible species is one of the only venomous lizards in the world, alongside the Gila monster. Native to Mexico, they’re known for their bead-like scales, powerful bite, and slow, deliberate movements. Mexican beaded lizards can grow up to around 2–3 feet long and use their fat tails to store energy, allowing them to survive long periods without food. Despite their tough reputation, they’re generally calm and spend much of their time hidden away in burrows in the wild—and just like Valentina, they enjoy a good soak now and then!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️

While we’re known for working with massive reticulated pythons—the longest snakes in the world—there’s another heavyweight that steals the spotlight. The green anaconda holds the title for the heaviest snake on Earth. These incredible giants can exceed 20 feet in length and weigh over 200 pounds, with some reports of individuals pushing even larger sizes. Native to South America, they spend much of their time in the water, where their immense size is supported, making them powerful and efficient ambush predators.

Good night from Feather and Fang Animal Sanctuary 🌙🐍

We’re excited to share that yesterday we welcomed our first corn snake clutch of the season—17 healthy eggs and one that’s a little iffy, but we’re keeping a close eye on it. If all goes well, we’re expecting tiny hatchlings around May 14th!

Fun fact: unlike bird eggs, snake eggs are soft and leathery rather than hard. This allows them to absorb moisture from their surroundings as they develop. Even cooler—when it’s time to hatch, baby snakes use a special temporary “egg tooth” to slice their way out, and then lose it shortly after.
