I just realized I haven’t introduced this little flock, though anyone who’s been here recently would have seen them.
We brought in our first baby turkeys (called poults) over the summer. Poults can be very delicate, but we ended up with two Toms and five hens.
Since growing out of their baby pens, they’ve become quite the characters around here. They quickly started following the herds out into the pastures and now will greet me in the driveway at feeding time. I’ve even caught one of the Bourbon Red hens admiring herself in the bathroom mirror!
We’ve taken them in pairs to a few of our last Fall events. The two toms, The Earl and The Baron, have done quite well, with The Earl even choosing to take a nap in my arms during his outing.
