The good the bad and the ugly. It isn't talked about enough by breeders. So here goes how yesterday went for us. Fancy had a textbook pregnancy filled with all the nutrients and supplements she needed to grow healthy puppies while maintaining her health as well.
Then came delivery we immediately knew this was a bad delivery with her first baby getting stuck and ultimately being stillborn. Hours and hours she was assisted with a emergency delivery that resulted in 2 live beautiful babies and 5 beautiful losses.
We are devastated but so thankful to have momma here with us and able to raise her surviving 2 babies.
Emergencies happen, acts of God happen and despite our best efforts we lost 3 beautiful babies this pairing. Is it anyones fault? No was there anything that could have been done differently? Also no. Does it make the hurt any less? Absolutely not.
So when you shop with for your new addition to your family and you see a price tag that you think wow thats alot
Take into account the time, money and love that goes into a litter and program.
We are drained exhausted but thankful that this didnt end up any worse than it was. At the end of the day our dams and sires our family pets first and the thought of almost loosing Fancy is devastating.
This will be her last litter. She will be spayed because tho its only a percentage that this could happen with her again. Im not willing to risk it. Her health is my top priority.
We will update with pictures when they finish resting and recovering.
We have 1 red merle male and 1 red merle female we hope both survive but the male is very weak.
