Freeway's Greyt Escape, Inc.

Freeway's Greyt Escape, Inc. We are no longer an active charity. Thank you for many years of supporting our beloved greyhounds.

On May 11, 2022, Freeway's Greyt Escape, Inc., dissolved it's non-profit. No longer accepting donations or contributions, please help your local greyhound adoption and rescue organizations with your donations. Freeway's mission helped communicate the need for greyhound and animal rescue and adoption. Keep his mission going through your support of other non profit animal rescue and adoptions.

I am so grateful that Freeway's Greyt Escape is still being followed even with greyhound racing in Florida coming to an end. With Freeway's death in 2020, Covid, then Abby's death last year, fundraising for our non profit has pretty much come to a halt. For this reason I have relinquished my non profit status. I will keep my web page and my page as always and welcome you to visit both. I am not permitted to receive any additional funding to support greyhound injuries and emergency care as we have done in the past, helping 49 greyhounds. Please donate to other non profit organizations who support animal welfare. The support of you and others like you allowed us to fulfill our mission over the seven years of dedication to these Greyt dogs. I have had the pleasure of meeting so many supporters and greyhound humans and it has been life changing and most rewarding to me. Freeway's motto: Never Look Back

Rest in Peace our sweet Abby Rose.

Doesn't seem possible that Freeway left this world and crossed the bridge a year ago.

It is with greyt sadness that I tell you our Freeway passed away on March 3rd. He passed into the next world with his head on my leg where he often rested his head. His beautiful golden eyes lovingly looked into mine, not saying goodbye, but “see-ya later.” I miss him with every breath I take and will for a very long time.

Freeway touched thousands of lives in his enormous ten years. Together we met so many people and hounds, all sharing the same loves and quests. He scars, often referred to as his Badges of Courage, attracted attention from strangers who because caught up in the greyhound world and recognized the breed as one of the best kept secrets in the dog adoption world. We would like to think there were more greyhound adoptions because of someone’s encounter with Freeway. He would hold his admirers in his gaze, casting his “spell” on them, sending them off to adopt a greyhound of their own.

Freeway’s Greyt Escape, Inc. has helped with the medical expenses for 42 injured greyhounds during Freeway’s life. Thousands of wonderful people helped in every way possible to make Freeway’s charity a worthy cause. We will never be able to thank each of you enough for the dedication, love and support through Freeway’s life. We will continue with his charity as long as possible.

Someone stated that Freeway is a Legend. He is. He was such an inspiration to so many, with his courage to survive and his determination to help his brothers and sisters in their time of need. He could not fight the cancer that attacked his body.

Our motto was RACE THE WIND….now you are the Wind. Rest in Peace sweet boy.

Love, Mom & Dad, Abby Rose and Brandi
And all who loved you

Tom and I were comforted with your words and expressions of sympathy, love and admiration for our Freeway. We continue to lean of each other, comforting Freeway's sisters, Abby Rose and Brandi, and our friends and family. Freeway's legacy will live on and Freeway's Greyt Escape, Inc. will continue as before. Freeway only showed signs of his illness in mid February before succumbing to prostate cancer. Thank you all for loving our boy.

Today, February 20th, is National Love Your Pet Day. Where would we be without our precious pets?

Our second brand new adoptable hound is a beautiful fawn boy whose name is...I kid you not...Gator! Everyone meet Centex Gator, a 74 pound boy who had 29 career races and was born on 5/26/17. Gator is one of those unicorn greyhounds who can actually sit like a normal dog, and he is a happy twirling hound! Gator has already been neutered and has had his dental, as well. Unknown if Gator is cat safe at this time. We will let everyone know once we know. Come meet this handsome boy at our Petco meet and greet on Sat, Jan 4th from 10 to 1:00!
