Meet Frijoles, an 8-week-old Chihuahua mix with a whole lot of personality packed into his tiny 4-pound body! ❤️

This little guy is super playful, super affectionate, and absolutely loves being close to his people. If you sit down, don't be surprised if Frijoles decides your lap is exactly where he belongs! 🥰

🐾 Daily Dog Spotlight – Meet Tater Tot! 🐾

This handsome Heeler mix is 2 years old and looking for a fresh start after being surrendered due to his family moving.

When Tater Tot first arrived at the shelter, he was understandably shy and seemed a little lost. But lately, we've been watching this sweet boy really start to come out of his shell, and it's been so nice to see his personality begin to shine. ❤️

Tater Tot is said to be housebroken and crate trained and has previously lived with dogs, cats, and children.

He may need a little time to adjust to a new home, but we think with some patience and love, Tater Tot is going to make someone an amazing companion. 🐾

🐾 Daily Dog Spotlight – Meet Luk! 🐾

Luk is about 5–6 months old and is full of life, energy, and puppy enthusiasm! ❤️ This girl is always ready to play, explore, and find the next bit of fun.

One of Luk's favorite things? Playing in the water! 💦🐶 We'll add a video in the comments so you can see this silly girl having the time of her life!

Luk has been growing up in the shelter, and while she's making the best of it, this energetic young pup really needs a home where she can grow, learn, play, and just be a puppy. 🏡

She's still just a baby with so much life ahead of her. She deserves to spend those puppy days making memories with a family—not growing up behind shelter walls.

We have SO many people to thank for making today successful!

Altus Fire-EMS Department for taking time to smoke brisket and pulled pork for us
Chick-fil-A Altus OK for donating mac n cheese and chips
Billy Sims BBQ for donating beans, buns, and pudding
El Límon for bringing the bomb drinks
And all of the wondeful people who took time out of their day to come support us, meet our animals, and eat some delicious food.

Tuesday, September 1, you have dinner plans and its Chick-fil-A Altus OK.

Chick-fil-A Owner, Chris Griffin, participated in our adoption event today and adopted his new pup, Miracle!
Chick-fil-A is hosting a fundraiser to directly benefit the animals housed at our facility, and we need your help! It's no extra money out of your pocket - all you have to do is order in the app and check the box stating you want to opt in to the Support Community Care Event. We and Chick-fil-A appreciate your support, and we can't wait to show you what we have in the works!

Todays the day!

Stop by 2200 Enterprise Drive, Altus, OK for some good food and meet our many adoptable dogs and cats. We are having a BBQ fundraiser, bounce houses, water slide for the kids.

In conjunction with our adoption event, we are hosting a BBQ Fundraiser! Altus Fire-EMS Department is smoking the meat, Chick-fil-A Altus OK & Billy Sims
has donated sides, and El Límon is bringing the drinks - it should be a feast for the ages!

Blind date with a dog, what is it?

The concept: Someone interested in adopting a dog will look through a short bio of animals with no pictures attached, or consult with staff over what their ideal dog looks like, and staff will pick out a good candidate (or two!) for them to meet!

The outcome: At worst, you get participate in getting a shelter dog out of their kennel and some fun human interaction, and you both part ways at the end of the day. At best? You and the dog find your new best friends for life ❤️

We will be hosting Blind Date With a Dog on Saturday, August 29 in conjunction with our Adoption Event, from 10-6. Come check it out!
