Up for adoption! Timmy is a young male border collie mix that is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm/flea/tick medicine and is looking for a new home. He was a stray pup out in the country north of Altus, but thankfully has been cared for and is ready for a new home. He is very active and loves to play fetch. He would be a good working dog with some training or would be good for a family with an active lifestyle. Come by the clinic or call at (580) 482-1738 to inquire about him.

While a snake bite is still an emergency even for animals that have been vaccinated, this vaccine has in our experience greatly diminished the severity of damage and reduced the frequency of death from poisonous snake bites. We also keep antivenin on hand for snake bite cases.
Here is more information on the vaccine:

Rattlesnake Vaccine (Crotalus Atrox Toxoid) for dogs Dogs are at risk for rattlesnake bite. Dogs can encounter a rattlesnake anytime they are in rattlesnake habitat. Rattlesnakes inhabit wetlands, deserts, and forests, from sea level to mountain elevations. Rattlesnakes are most active in warmer sea...
