Horses rode good and the weather was beautiful.

We have an open training spot for the month of may.

The arena is almost finished ! Can’t wait to lope some ponies out on fresh ground .

Teaching this youngster (coming 3 yr old AQHA hold up hombre) to be more aware of his body and movements . He has been pretty good with water crossings but hasn’t crossed slick bottom creeks with holes . A little unsure of the dark holes so he wanted to rush through . I collected him up a little so he would slow down and think about his footing . Really happy with this gelding .
A confident horse is a safe horse. Whether it comes to working cattle or packing in the mountains your horse should be confident to go wherever and do whatever is asked .

Our arena is looking so good ! It’s been re graded and prepped for good sand to be added . We decided to go with a product called cinders .(which is local to our area )
A road has been added around the arena for easier in and out access with trailers .
Also was able to get the cutting flag up! These flag systems are such a great training tool.

Session number two for this young gelding in a new bit. He did amazing and is so much more relaxed under saddle.

I moved him up from a loose ring snaffle to the Mikmar Rancher bit. While he had all his cues and basics down he was really struggling in a normal snaffle bit to relax and soften .
I really love the Mikmar Rancher bit for those younger horses that lean on the more anxious side .

Getting the horses legged up on trail .

This is new territory for the horses so we decided to take two out and give them a lay of the ranch. It’s important to expose them to the new terrain here on the ranch. Lots of rock , high ridges , and water crossings .
