Sharing the Story of Iowa Horse Racing!
On August 12 at 7:30 a.m., I had the honor of speaking to the East Polk County Rotary Club at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Altoona about Thoroughbred racing and breeding in Iowa.
This was actually a presentation I had originally been scheduled to give at the end of March. After my accident, they were gracious enough to reschedule and give me the opportunity to come speak once I was back on my feet. I truly appreciated their understanding and patience!
I shared information about our Thoroughbred industry, including its impact on Iowa’s economy, the jobs it supports, our breeding program, and why horse racing continues to be important to our state. I brought along several handouts, and they asked a lot of great questions.
I always enjoy the opportunity to talk about an industry that has been such a big part of my life and to help others understand everything that goes into racing and breeding beyond what they see at the racetrack.
Thank you to the East Polk County Rotary Club for the invitation, the warm welcome, and most of all, for graciously working with me when life changed my plans a little!
Horse racing is more than a sport. It’s agriculture, jobs, investment, and an important part of Iowa.
