Babs and her floof babies (the Bear Crew) went on the road today to the Penn State Altoona Campus Involvement Fair. Students were able pet and snuggle Babs and her babies and could sign up for student volunteer shifts. The perk of volunteering at the cat lounge as a student is all the cat loving you can stand! Many students miss their pets from home and can’t have pets at school so it’s a win/win for all involved. Suffice it to say we were the most popular table at the fair. 💙 🐱 💙

⏰ Visiting Hours - Important Update ⏰

With the recent change to management (announced last evening), and as the dust settles, our visiting hours will be temporarily closed while we regroup and reorganize.

In the meantime, every cat in our care will be receiving thorough health assessments so we can address any medical needs and ensure both a healthy environment and happy, healthy cats.

We’ll reopen soon and can’t wait to welcome you back. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this transition. It truly means the world to us and the cats. ❤️

🎯 New Leadership, Same Mission 🎯

Second Chance Strays is now under new management effective immediately.

The Board of Directors is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our cats, providing excellent care and many cuddles to our furry residents, and helping them find their forever homes through the adoption process. It is our goal to continually improve our communication: with our adopters, our partners in rescue, and our community.

Please bear with us through this transitional period as we navigate limited open hours. Rest assured we will be back to full strength soon.

In the coming days, we will be posting more adoptable cats. If you see one you’d like to meet, we are happy to schedule an appointment with you to visit and adopt.

We will be changing up the adoption process to be a bit more streamlined and creating new accounts for donations. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out via messenger and we’ll do our best to respond in a timely manner.

We strive to be a safe haven for our cats, a community partner in the cat rescue and shelter world, and an inviting place for our community cat-lovers to escape for some TLC with many wonderful feline friends.

Our sweet Gladys🩷

Gladys has been with us for 3 years now, overlooked each time😿

She came to us as an owner surrender. She is truly just a chill and laid back girl. She loves to be held and would love a lap to lay on! She is an old lady at heart but can definitely still play!

She is also our cleanest tenant🤩 Gladys never makes a mess of her litter box and keeps her space tidy!

Gladys would do well in a low traffic and calm home. We don’t know how she tests with dogs, but she is good with other cats that are calm like her.

We are hiring for cat care attendants!!🤩

We are looking for hardworking reliable individuals to join our team with a part time position. You must love cats and not mind cleaning.

This position includes general care and safety of animals and includes but is not limited to:

•Monitoring health and behaviors of cats
•Scooping litter boxes
•Feeding/watering
•Cleaning Kennels
•Vacuuming/Mopping
•Laundry

Working as a team in a fast paced focused environment is a must for this position. Hours range from 20-25 hours a week with 1-2 days off a week. Majority of hours are in the AM, with some PM hours.

Must be 18 years of age to apply.

‼️FOSTER NEEDED‼️

Emergency! We have a mom and 6 babies who need a bottle foster ASAP!

We want to keep babies with mom because she is still nursing, but the babies are not getting enough from momma so we need a bottle feeder to monitor weights and supplement feed when needed!

These babies are 11 days old. Please send us a message if you can help!!

It’s been hard for me to make this post because i’m so heartbroken over him but i wanted to update everybody😞

Friday we posted about Sylvester having possible hydrocephalus. Saturday morning he wasn’t doing so well and we called around to literally every vet until we found one who could see him. Our vet came in on her day off to help Sylvester. He was administered meds and that helped him a lot! He went from fading to wanting love and purrs and evening was drinking from the bottle for me!

Sunday i woke up for his scheduled feeding and he was fading again and despite my absolute best efforts, he passed away very very shortly after in my arms.😭😭😭

Sylvester, i loved you so much and i wanted to badly to save you. Say hi to Auggie up there for me❤️😞🌈
