Hey friends! We are thrilled to announce that we’ve teamed up with Chicagoland Pig Rescue to save these two sweeties.

Meet Dodger & Petunia!

Dodger is a 6-year-old, neutered Red Wattle Hog. He was adopted by an organization that provides vocational and residential services for over 250 adults with developmental disabilities (AMAZING). Unfortunately, he outgrew his enclosure and the ability for staff to care for him, so he found his way to Starfish Acres where he will live a peaceful, spoiled life with many acres to roam.

Petunia is a 4-year-old spayed Guinea Hog that was rescued by a kindhearted woman from a farmer that no longer wanted her. We are happy to say that her breeding days are over!

All of our residents here have unique stories and unique needs. We cannot meet these needs without your help.

Sometimes things don't always go according to plan. We had a really good lead on a forever home for Bailey but it ended up just not working out!
In addition to that, time had run out for Bailey at his previous foster.

With Bailey's case, we are literally are back at square one..
The good news is that- we spoke with Kendra about Bailey's case and she has agreed to foster Bailey until we can find him his happily ever after!

Yesterday was transport day for Bailey.
We picked him up from his first foster home and Kendra met up with us for the second leg of the journey.
Normally we try not to move pigs around to too many places because change can be hard on them.. but sometimes we just don't have a choice.
This is the reality of rescue.

Despite the long journey, Bailey was in very good spirits. Half way through, we stopped and gave Bailey some apple treats which he absolutely loved!

Please send up some prayers to the universe that we will find some new leads for Bailey.
He is a large breed pig (yorkshire), so he needs a home with a barn and a big pasture!

🚨 New Rescue: Oliver 🚨

We were contacted by several people, including animal control themselves, alerting us about a pig named Oliver who was left at Chicago Animal Care and Control last week.

He was left with a note detailing his personality and his favorite things. Apparently, he was kept as a family pet for the first few months of this life..

We aren't sure why the family decided to discard of him at animal control. All we know is that this 4 month old baby was left in a place not set up to handled pigs. He needed out immediately!

Thankfully, one of our foster partners had an available space and was willing to pick Oliver up over the weekend!

This baby is a Idaho Pasture Pig. This means he is a blend of 3 breeds: kunekune, Duroc, and Old Berkshire. (Though he sure does look like a pure kunekune)!
IPP pigs grow up to 450 pounds. So this sweet boy will need to find a home with a barn and large pasture space!
