Our Pet of the Week this week is Pixie!
From now until the end of the day, Sunday November 8th, Pixie can be adopted for only $50, half the normal adoption fee. The fee includes spay, Felv/FIV snap test, microchip and all of the vaccinations.
Pixie came into the shelter March 4th; she was previously found as a kitten at True Value and had been in a foster home. She was returned on October 15th after the adopters living situation changed and could no longer keep her.
Pixie loves meeting people. She wants to be snuggled and craves the attention; she demands it. She loves to play with toys, she isn’t picky either, she loves all toys. Her foster home had other cats, and she did great with them; she would be very happy in a home with other cat friends to spend her day with.
The staff say that Pixie is the sweetest baby ever! They love that she is vocal and energetic. They also love that she wants to be carried around.
Come meet Pixie today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

Rowena is our Pet of the Week this week!
Today is the last day to adopt Rowena for only $50, half the normal adoption fee. The fee includes spay, heartworm test, microchip and all of the vaccinations.
Rowena came into the shelter on October 2nd as a stray.
Rowena is the sweetest girl anyone could ask for. She has no idea what a stranger is and believes that she was put on this earth to make new friends with everyone. Even though she has classic puppy behaviors, this girl is kind, gentle, and very well-behaved, despite being so young. She is willing to do anything to earn your affection and is fantastic at keeping a clean kennel.
Rowena walks well on a leash, loves a good chewy cookie, and has three different friends in her playgroup right now. She really knows how to bring a shy pup out of their shell! She does know tricks like sit and shake and is currently mastering her stay command.
Our staff says that they love how nicely Rowena will ask for snuggles and a belly rub. They love how all she wants in life is for you to sit on the floor, couch, bed, etc., and let her be as close to you as possible. If that wasn’t enough, she looks up at you and practically speaks to you with her eyes. She is a storyteller and wants you to be the one to hear them all!
Come meet Rowena today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

October 31st, Alpine Animal Services invites you to share a day with an adoptable dog during our monthly Adventure Buddy Day! Today is the last day to sign up to participate.
Before you go trick-or-treating, you can go hike a trail, take a drive or just cuddle on the couch with one of our adoptable dogs from the shelter. It’s a chance for you to hang out with a grateful dog and for them to spend time outside the shelter, playing, sniffing, strolling, and taking in the sights. Adventure Buddy Day is a fun, easy way for residents to get involved- no experience or long- term commitment required!
Why a day out matters for dogs in shelters
Programs like this helps shelters and communities build mutual trust, inviting people to experience what a shelter can offer beyond adoption and help to save pet’s lives. A day outside of the shelter can significantly reduce a dog’s stress, providing a welcoming break from kennel life. And when human participants post pictures and videos from their excursions on social media, it helps dogs get the exposure they need- doing the things they love to do- to be adopted.
Plus, it encourages community members to become advocates both for their local shelters and the animals being cared for there.
