They say a dog can change the trajectory of your entire life. For me, that dog is Xylose.
Xylose wasn’t just a dog I rehabilitated, he was the teacher who completely redefined how I understand canine behavior. His resilience, intelligence, and spirit became the very foundation of our mission. He is the heartbeat of this organization, and the reason we fight for the dogs who need us most.
Because he represents our past, our present, and our future, it only made sense that he take center stage in our brand-new logo, featuring none other than the legend himself.

Alongside our new look, we are making some massive updates behind the scenes to better serve you and your dogs:

We couldn't have reached this milestone without the incredible support of our community, our clients, and the amazing team working behind the scenes. As we look ahead to these new platforms and our brand-new facility opening in 2027, this new chapter belongs to all of us. And it all started with one incredible dog.

Big news from Xylose Ranch.

Today, I received my official AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator card and certificate in the mail. I am honored to be approved by the American Kennel Club as an AKC CGC Evaluator.

This achievement represents years of learning, working with dogs, and helping owners build stronger relationships with their canine companions. From training sessions to behavior work and everything in between, every dog has taught me something valuable along the way.

As an AKC CGC Evaluator, I am now able to administer AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Community Canine (CGCA), Urban CGC (CGCU), Video Home Manners, and Trick Dog evaluations.

This milestone is especially meaningful because Xylose Ranch was inspired by Xylose, a dog who was once overlooked and misunderstood. His journey showed me the importance of patience, training, and giving dogs the opportunity to succeed. That same philosophy continues to guide everything we do today.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Xylose Ranch, trusted us with your dogs, referred friends and family, and followed our journey. Your support has helped make this possible.

I look forward to helping more dogs and handlers reach their goals and earn their AKC titles in the years ahead.

If you know Elazar, you know that Xylose Ranch isn’t just a business or a title to him; it’s a lifelong calling. For over 16 years, he has poured his soul into understanding the dogs that others might have given up on. From the late nights working with high-risk behavioral cases to the miles logged in search and rescue, Elazar’s commitment to force-free, compassionate training has changed the standard for what rescue can be.
But the heart of this story actually started with one specific dog—Xylose. When Elazar adopted his Border Collie/Beauceron mix, it wasn't just a rescue; it was a partnership that defined the future. Xylose became more than just a companion; he became the inspiration for the name, the brand, and the very philosophy we stand by today. Watching that bond grow is a daily reminder of why we do what we do—showing that with the right person and the right approach, any dog can thrive.
Elazar is the first one on the scene when an animal is in need and the last one to leave the facility at night. His vision for a world where every dog is treated with patience and respect is what drives everything we do here. Xylose Ranch wouldn’t be the sanctuary it is today without his leadership, his grit, and his belief that every life is worth the effort.

Rax is a sweet dog with a big heart, and right now he’s putting in the work alongside his foster mom.

We’ve started his advanced behavioral training together, focusing on leash reactivity, barrier reactivity, and building solid, reliable obedience. This isn’t just about training the dog — it’s about teaching the handler too, and his foster mom is doing a great job staying consistent and learning the process.

Rax wants to do right, he just needs clear structure and guidance. That’s exactly what we’re building.

Right now we’re working on:
– Calm leash handling
– Staying neutral around triggers
– Confidence and trust
– Obedience in real-world situations

This is what progress looks like — not perfect, but consistent.
