THE BIGGIE SMALLS MYSTERY: Did a rogue rescue hide a dog's death?
Browns Mills, New Jersey - A senior dog named Biggie Smalls was allegedly shot and killed after being transferred to Gone Rogue Girls Rescue. Now, the rescue’s social media accounts have been deactivated, its website is inactive and its phone number is disconnected. ACCT Philly says the rescue’s founder has become unreachable.
The rescue’s archived website identifies Brooke Thompson as its founder and president. ACCT Philly says it transferred more than 100 dogs to the organization during their partnership, which began in 2024. The shelter is now working to account for those dogs’ outcomes, but that transfer total does not mean 100 dogs are missing.
ACCT Philly Executive Director Sarah Barnett told 6abc the shelter confirmed Biggie was shot. Yet the rescue’s memorial post told supporters he had cancer and had been laid to rest. The reports reviewed don’t identify who shot him or establish the exact circumstances of his death.
Tyfanee Fortuna, who’s helping track the dogs, disputes the rescue’s account. She told 6abc that Biggie had already been shot before donations were requested in his memory and alleged he had never been taken to a veterinarian or diagnosed with cancer. Those conflicting accounts leave serious questions about his care and what supporters were told.
Fortuna also described troubling documentation, including dogs listed as deceased or returned. She said some records listed an adopter’s address as “I don’t know drive” and email information as “I don’t know.” She’s now helping determine where the dogs went and whether their recorded outcomes can be verified.
Pemberton police told 6abc they were aware of the allegations but couldn’t comment further. The reporting reviewed did not identify a shooter or announce criminal charges. Biggie’s story, the conflicting records and the rescue’s silence deserve answers.
