While we await our eggs to incubate in our new cimuka incubator we managed to get a few baby chicks at and have them in our new cimuka brooder that we purchased from .
Love this brooder as it has a wonderful heating and lighting system, automated waterer as well as additional standalone watering and feeders. The chicks 🐥 are loving it in there with plenty of room and well protected.
There are 5 barred rock and 5 Americana in there. Putting the first one in I showed it where the water was and she became the leader to teach the others.
After a few hours of being in there they have settled down but continue to explore.
The brooder was nice and warm for them upon arrival and their water has added electrolytes.
This is the first time using such a brooder as we usually have used a small tub and heaters for them. There is always losses with new chicks for many reasons, but we are hoping to mitigate that and reduce the losses using this brooder method.
We plan to have a live stream feed of the brooder in the next few days via our YouTube channel.
