Today is National Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, a day to honor and remember our beloved pets who are no longer with us. Here’s my boy Newman who started this all 💙🌈

📌 [Located in Illinois] We’re reaching out to find the impossible: a home with no kids or other animals looking to foster or adopt a wonderful senior dog.

13-year-old Neville came to us from Louisiana as a stray. He is the sweetest boy to humans and loves to have someone by his side.

The love doesn’t always extend to other animals though, which is an issue in rescue we all hate to face. We don’t blame Neville. We have no idea what his background or former life was like. He is just a goofy boy with zero social awareness and will get up close and personal in an animal’s face or do things they may not appreciate like step on them. And when they snap, he’ll snap back out of fear. Being deaf and blind in one eye is also not helpful in him understanding cues.

(Special note: Neville is currently being fostered in a home with 4 small, special needs senior dogs who can be grumpy and a senior cat. We are unsure of how the dynamic would be with younger or bigger or more unbothered animals.)

Neville is neutered, has good bloodwork for a senior, and doesn’t take any medications. He has a mild heart murmur, an occasional crusty eye that artificial tears can help, and some random bald spots. He’s even got most (if not all) of his teeth left which are in great condition!

Highlights:

💙 Total lovebug with endless tail wags and kisses
🦷 An adorable underbite smile
🥩 Amazing appetite - no picky eater struggles
💤 Happy to be your couch potato binge watch partner
🎾 Plays with toys and loves chews
🐾 Able to go up stairs, jump on the couch, and go for walkies
🐶 Small boy at just 9 pounds!

So, know anyone near the Chicago suburbs looking for a solo loyal companion? Friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, random grandparents? Spread the word for this deserving boy!

What do you think of Neville’s picture day smile? 📸

Our newest senior got a pretty good bill of health at his vet checkup! He’s blind in one eye but eye pressures are both normal, bloodwork showed indications of chronic inflammation and malnutrition that we expect to resolve with TLC, and his teeth are the most incredible small dog senior teeth we’ve ever seen. He would still benefit from a dental but I’d bet money there wouldn’t be a single extraction!

It’s clear Neville was a stray and hungry for some time because his favorite daily activity is obsessing over food and being an absolute menace about it. Hide your garbage cans and clean up your crumbs, kids. I even found him trying to eat a microwaveable heating pad he somehow pulled from the back of a shelf since it was filled with rice.

He’s come a long way from being lost on the streets of Louisiana and will only continue to flourish ✨

3️⃣5️⃣0️⃣🎊 Say hello to our 350th senior save, Neville! 13-year-old Neville was an unclaimed stray in Louisiana with zero rescue prospects who made his way to us yesterday thanks to Rescueber. He’s got a fabulous underbite and a sweet hairdo and has settled in like he owns the place. Like most seniors, he’s half blind, deaf, and has a heart murmur, but the rest of him checked out okay. We’ll get his bloodwork results back tomorrow. For now, he’s catching up on much needed sleep and snacks.

Here he comeeesss! 🏎️ Moses may be 12 years old, but he’s speedy, silly, and full of life. Moses initially entered an overcrowded shelter as a stray, but he has lived in a loving foster home for over 3 months. Moses is the perfect petite Chihuahua, weighing in at only 7 pounds. He loves people, other dogs, and children, and is becoming better friends with cats every day! 💕

Moses is crate and house trained, but happily wears a belly band in new places. He has had a dental and is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines.

🏡Moses is currently being fostered in Champaign, IL and can’t wait to find his forever family. Apply to adopt: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NWMN/Dog
