Update on Delilah the amazing cat.... after me and Delilah having a long ass nap today, I’m so glad to say she’s doing so much better. She’s resting a lot so I’m not having to chase her around to make sure she’s ok. I had the cone on for awhile today and we both napped but I woke up earlier tonight and let her have a break, and since she’s been pretty relaxed and she and I have both been sleeping on and off all evening I haven’t even put it back on since she’s been just laying down near me sleeping on and off and not seeming interested in her wound. I’m so glad to have finally caught some sleep too myself as I was really running on fumes keeping up with her last night. I think she has figured if she sleeps in the bed I have her in next to my foof ( she literally has a comfy cat bed that looks like a little foof of her own) that I’ll keep the cone off her. She’s not lethargic but she’s catching up on her sleep too. I think coming off her surgery drugs plus just feeling safe knowing she’s home and still a good girl kinda helped her finally chill today. She doesn’t like the cone, and when she’s not sleeping or if I have to kinda not supervise her, I’m def gonna have to use it, bc I really don’t want her licking her wound, but she’s not even paying attention to it.... and let’s me check on it without guarding it or getting distressed. She’s got one more pain med for tomorrow. She’s been eating, drinking and using the litter box as well which are all good signs. Vet checked up on me this morning before she finally started going to sleep. At that point I was so bested by my cat I was exhausted and got nothing in needed to get done finished, including getting my car towed to the garage. Had Jessie grab my meds for me tonight from the pharmacy but was out cold before he even got home. I woke up at about 2 am. Delilah still snoozing on and off but I woke her up for a bit, she ate some more used the kitty box and when I tap her bed she comes and lays down. So all in all things are going a lot better. I’m glad she’s not waiting for me to pass out and taking the cone off anymore but I’ve had it off all night too so that’s also less annoying s**t for her. She even lets me rub her belly, and gives the purrs too. I’m not touching anywhere near the wound of course - more upper chest rubs I guess but she willingly presents her tum tum so at least I feel her pain is really getting minimal and she’s on the mend.
I’m honestly glad we’re both gettin some rest so I can wake up and get my car towed to the mechanic tomorrow. Being this exhausted for the last few days has really taken its toll unfortunately but I knew it’d be kinda hard. I’m glad I got this done finally though. I know it’s best for her heath and her mood swings and her not going into heat anymore omg is gonna be just awesome.
Thanks to my friends who have been supportive. My friend Kathy who used to be my neighbor is the real mvp seriously. She was essential getting me and Delilah back and forth to the vet and stuff. Jesse grabbing my meds too. And my friends online with suggestions and support and laughs. Made this a little more bearable for me. Adding some funny pics from the last few days. Funniest one was when she was high as gas and staring at the red light. Strangely it actually soothd her somewhat too. Made her stop bouncing around so I’ve kept it in my room the last 2 days other are just her in the cone. At one point she was literally waiting till I fell asleep and getting the cone off her head like a sneaky genius....anyway that’s all for now with the update.
