This week at King Street Cats we have not one, not two, but SIX kitties who wanted a chance to say hello to everyone!
Well, it is about time! We are so happy to finally get to meet you all. We have been with King Street Cats for exactly three months.
My name is Buster and since I’m the biggest I will be spokeskitten. My brothers and sisters are Gary, Maxine, Milly, Stash, and Thea. Our foster calls us the Crusty Six, that goes back to our very first day with KSC.
A county shelter sent out a plea for help as they were drowning in kittens, and we needed some extra attention that they couldn’t give just then. King Street Cats said sure, how bad could they be, they are just little kittens. As soon as we were loaded in the car our foster found out how bad it could be. Even though it was not the nicest day windows had to be opened and a quick phone call made to get us seen at urgent care. We were in a word, stinky times six.
When we arrived at the vet, they put us in a room and closed the door, but I could still hear people asking, “what is that smell?” Frankly, it was quite embarrassing. The nice staff whisked us into the back to be examined and cleaned up a bit. It turned out we had eye infections, upper respiratory infections, parasites, and the dreaded ringworm. All that added up to us being very crusty from nose to tail. We were pretty sure that our foster was wondering what she had gotten herself into.
The first order of business was baths to treat the ringworm and clean up the yuck that was stuck in our fur. I have to say even though we all felt better afterwards we gave the whole bath experience zero stars. Things definitely improved from there. Even though we had to get lots of medicines it meant we also got lots of snuggles. The food was so good, the windows were sunny, and the beds were comfy. The ringworm went away, the sneezing stopped, but our eyes were more challenging and our tummy troubles were still epic.
Finally after weeks of medications, special food, and more snuggles things got better and we are right as rain now.
I do want to tell you a little bit about my siblings. Gary is the adventurer; Maxine is the quiet, elegant one. Milly with unique fur is sweet and sassy; Stash is the family clown. Dear Thea, is a champion snuggler who would just as soon get hugs as eat. My foster says I am one of the most perfect kittens she has ever met.
We haven’t been an easy crew and needed an awful lot of special help. Taking on six sick kittens is no small thing. King Street Cats was able to give us all the extra care we needed because you all make it possible with your generosity, friendship, and support.
Because of each and every one of you we are all healthy, happy, and ready to find our forever families. So, on behalf of the Crusty Six and all the kitties at King Street Cats, THANK YOU!
Whisker Kisses,
Buster, Gary, Maxine,
Milly, Stash, Thea
