King Street Cats

King Street Cats King Street Cats is the only cat-exclusive, no-kill rescue facility in Alexandria, VA. Our mission is We are committed to helping all cats and kittens in need.
(335)

We specialize in kitties that traditional shelters cannot take in: pregnant cats, nursing cats and newborn kittens, orphaned bottle-fed kittens, senior kitties, and kitties with medical issues. If we have room, no kitty is turned away. We educate and assist the community in regard to cat welfare, and to provide loving homes for the cats in our care. We accomplish this through outreach to the local

community by providing information on proper cat care, behavioral problems and medical issues involving cats. We also assist local residents in locating and retrieving lost cats and assist individuals through the cat adoption process. We provide abandoned and rescued cats and kittens with a safe and secure temporary home until a permanent, loving owner and home can be found. We promote spaying and neutering and all our cats and kittens are sterilized prior to adoption. We also provide post-adoption support for adopters and anyone else that needs cat care advice. We hope you, too, will become a friend of King Street Cats!

It's Sunday night, and safe and happy in his forever home is dear Waldo 💖

His family tells us: "Just wanted to give another update on Waldo! He is such a sweet and special boy. We absolutely love him! ❤️

Wherever we are in the house, Waldo is right there wanting to be in on the action. Even when brushing our teeth, he likes to sit right by the sink and watch us! He loves taking cat naps during the day, and his current favorite toy is an Aldi reusable bag. He absolutely loves it! He’ll hop in the bag, attack it, roll around in it, and pounce on it. Waldo constantly makes us laugh and he is a very chatty boy that likes to walk around and chirrup. Whenever neighbors or friends stop by, Waldo is right at the door ready to say hello and receive his pets.

Waldo and our other cat Clover are also getting along really well!! They love to hang out together and play and sleep near each other.

We can’t express how honored we are to have Waldo as part of our family. We absolutely love him to death and he brings so much love and laughter and entertainment to our house. He truly is the very best and a one of a kind.

Thank you again for everything and for pairing us with this very special boy! ❤️"

This week at King Street Cats we have not one, not two, but SIX kitties who wanted a chance to say hello to everyone!

Well, it is about time! We are so happy to finally get to meet you all. We have been with King Street Cats for exactly three months.

My name is Buster and since I’m the biggest I will be spokeskitten. My brothers and sisters are Gary, Maxine, Milly, Stash, and Thea. Our foster calls us the Crusty Six, that goes back to our very first day with KSC.

A county shelter sent out a plea for help as they were drowning in kittens, and we needed some extra attention that they couldn’t give just then. King Street Cats said sure, how bad could they be, they are just little kittens. As soon as we were loaded in the car our foster found out how bad it could be. Even though it was not the nicest day windows had to be opened and a quick phone call made to get us seen at urgent care. We were in a word, stinky times six.

When we arrived at the vet, they put us in a room and closed the door, but I could still hear people asking, “what is that smell?” Frankly, it was quite embarrassing. The nice staff whisked us into the back to be examined and cleaned up a bit. It turned out we had eye infections, upper respiratory infections, parasites, and the dreaded ringworm. All that added up to us being very crusty from nose to tail. We were pretty sure that our foster was wondering what she had gotten herself into.

The first order of business was baths to treat the ringworm and clean up the yuck that was stuck in our fur. I have to say even though we all felt better afterwards we gave the whole bath experience zero stars. Things definitely improved from there. Even though we had to get lots of medicines it meant we also got lots of snuggles. The food was so good, the windows were sunny, and the beds were comfy. The ringworm went away, the sneezing stopped, but our eyes were more challenging and our tummy troubles were still epic.

Finally after weeks of medications, special food, and more snuggles things got better and we are right as rain now.

I do want to tell you a little bit about my siblings. Gary is the adventurer; Maxine is the quiet, elegant one. Milly with unique fur is sweet and sassy; Stash is the family clown. Dear Thea, is a champion snuggler who would just as soon get hugs as eat. My foster says I am one of the most perfect kittens she has ever met.

We haven’t been an easy crew and needed an awful lot of special help. Taking on six sick kittens is no small thing. King Street Cats was able to give us all the extra care we needed because you all make it possible with your generosity, friendship, and support.

Because of each and every one of you we are all healthy, happy, and ready to find our forever families. So, on behalf of the Crusty Six and all the kitties at King Street Cats, THANK YOU!

Whisker Kisses,
Buster, Gary, Maxine,
Milly, Stash, Thea
