Ever wonder why your dog pants so much in summer? It's actually a clever cooling system. As they pant, moisture evaporates from their tongue, mouth, and upper airways, releasing heat and helping regulate body temperature, since they can't sweat to cool off like we do. 🐕

Normal panting is rhythmic and stops once they've cooled down. But panting that's frantic, noisy, or paired with drooling, weakness, or bright red gums can signal overheating, a true emergency. Knowing the difference can save your dog's life.
