Daydream Equestrian Services

Daydream Equestrian Services Honoring the horse. Empowering the rider. Available for travel and virtual coaching.

Helping riders notice the subtle signs their horse is giving in groundwork and under saddle so they can build calm, emotionally safe partnerships. I specialize in attuned horsemanship for horses who seem quiet, stubborn, or reactive. My work focuses on helping riders understand what their horse is communicating long before behavior shows up. This approach creates emotional safety, clarity, and wil

lingness in both groundwork and riding. I offer travel sessions, virtual coaching, and education for thoughtful riders who want a deeper, more connected partnership with their horse.

It was a beautiful day today, sunny and mid 70's, and I actually got a lot done. Some of it was even horse related.
Twist and I did a little ground driving. He hasn't had much experience with it, and my coordination isn't always the greatest, but we got through some figure 8's and called it a win. I also need to start reintroducing the bit. The last few times I've ridden him we've been working bitless, so we have a little reminding to do there before the show.
And then there's the tail. He's perlino, so that light tail shows every stain. Tail wash and a clean tail bag today.
The first show is in just under three weeks. Eek.
Are you showing this season? Drop a comment, I'd love to hear what you're working toward. 👇

The NEK Equine Expo is just around the corner and I am really looking forward to this one.
I'll be teaching Saturday morning at 9am at the Orleans County Fairgrounds in Barton, VT. My clinic is called Reading Your Horse Clearly: Recognizing Early Stress and Supporting Calm Connection. I already have participants lined up, but if you want to come watch, gates open at 8:30 and admission is $10 for the whole day.
The expo runs May 30 and 31 and there is a lot happening both days. Clinicians, vendors, a hat burning workshop, a kids corner, and a musical showcase Saturday evening celebrating the horse and human partnership. Sunday is a Ranch Challenge with riders competing from all over New England.
If you're in the area, come say hi. I'd love to see some familiar faces.

🐮🌟 Training Board Spots Now Available 🌟🐮

I have one, maybe two spots opening up here at Daydream Equestrian this summer, and I wanted to put it out there.
Training board is the preference. Your horse comes to me, lives here on pasture with lots of grass, grain provided if needed, and we get to work. I've been working with horses for over 35 years. I have degrees in Equine Studies, Equine Business Management, and Riding. My background includes equine massage therapy, CHA riding instruction, and CPR and first aid training. I've also worked as a veterinary technician at large equine surgical facilities, taught riders from backyard horse owners to competitive riders in Wellington, and shown Green Horse division to championships on three different horses, including one who was completely blind.
The horses I love most are the ones whose owners are frustrated, out of ideas, or starting to wonder if it's time to move on. Most of the time those horses aren't problems at all. They're just communicating, and nobody has listened yet. I want to help these partnerships become fun and enjoyable.
I'm also open to something a little different this summer. If there's a rescue or project horse that needs training, I'd love to talk. Maybe you want to sponsor a horse's training, or maybe you have a horse that needs a summer of real work before finding the right home. I'm open to options and happy to have a conversation about what might work.
Pasture board only is also available, and it's a great option for a horse that needs some weight and good grass.
Pricing depends on your horse and your goals. Reach out and we'll figure it out together.

It's been a busy couple of weeks out here. Spring shots are done, teeth are floated, and we even lost internet for a couple of days in there somewhere.
But things are happening! I have training board and pasture board spots opening up, some news about the NEK Equine Expo at the end of May, a horse show on the horizon, and some updates on how Twist and I are coming along.
More this week, I promise! Stay tuned.

I've been out of town for a few days and I am so behind on everything. We got in late last night, I worked all day today, and tomorrow is full catch up mode.

I did want to give everyone a quick heads up that some things are coming. I'll have training board spots available soon, as well as possibly some pasture board. I have some 2025 first cut hay available for sale now, and if you want to get ahead on 2026 hay, message me. Also, I'll be teaching a clinic Saturday morning at the NEK Equine Expo at the end of May, and I'm really looking forward to that one.

More details will be coming later this week. Stay tuned!

It's really hard to get good pictures while lunging. The second I pull out my phone, Twist knows my focus has shifted. That's usually when he'll pull on the lunge or break gait.
It makes total sense. When I pause to grab my phone, my body falls behind his motion. He reads that as a downward cue. If I bring my phone up, it almost always lifts the lunge line or the whip. Even if I have everything in one hand and my phone in the other, my hands move, my cues change, and he reacts to whatever I'm giving him in that moment.
I used to think horses were being sneaky or taking advantage. But that's really not what's happening. He's just listening to me. Doing exactly what I'm asking, even when I don't realize I'm asking it.
So then I have to ask myself, what kind of horse do I want? One who tunes me out, ignores my aids, and makes me work for everything? Or one who pays close attention and responds to every cue?
I'll take the latter every time. Those are the horses that make you a better trainer and rider. And they're the ones who will help their riders out of a tight spot on the trail, over a fence, or when something genuinely dangerous comes up.
