🏠🐶🐱HOLLY’S HOUND HOTEL🐱🐶🏠

Hi there! We’re Holly & Andrew!

We’re a work-from-home couple dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals in New Mexico. We’re the founders of Pitties and Kitties Rescue of New Mexico, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.🐾

We welcome all dogs and we can handle most behavioral or medical needs. With more than 8 years of fostering and volunteering across multiple organizations, we’ve worked with just about every personality and condition imaginable! Holly also brings a year of veterinary office experience and a year of working as a foster coordinator in a shelter.

We’ve been hosting pups on Rover for about 2 years, and we love it! Our yard is fully enclosed with a secure 6-ft concrete/wood fence for playtime and safety.

📚 Experience Highlights:
• 3+ years operating our own rescue, 8+ years fostering/volunteering with shelters and rescues, 2+ years boarding dogs with Rover
• Extensive experience with shy dogs, quirky behavioral dogs, reactive dogs, special-needs dogs, and everything in between (including “normal” dogs, if there is such a thing😄)
• Skilled in reading dog body language and supporting nervous or reactive pups
• Daily hands-on interaction with dogs thanks to our rescue work and boarding schedule

🐾 Special Accommodations We’re Happy to Provide:

🐶 Dog Selective or Not Dog Friendly?
Our home is fully baby-gated to allow complete separation as needed between common areas—living room, hallway, and bedrooms/offices. We can keep your pup comfortably separated the entire stay if needed. We also have a gated pen in our living room so more selective dogs can still hang out while the other dogs are out! We have several yards that are all fenced to ensure separation as well.

🐱 Not Cat Friendly?
No worries at all, our cats have their own room and can stay separated during bookings.

💊 Medical Needs?
Holly has vet clinic experience and we’ve cared for many medical fosters. We can confidently assist with most routines and medications, just let us know instructions! We may incur an extra charge of up to $10/day depending on the medical needs, which includes adding pills to meals.

🫣 Shy or Wary of Strangers/Men?
We adore the shy babies! We go slow, respect boundaries, and help them feel safe and loved. (They’re Holly’s favorite 🥹)

🍖 Resource Guarding?
We separate feeding by default and can manage guarding around toys, people, or other items as needed.

❤️ Bottom Line
We truly believe every dog deserves a safe place where they feel comfortable. If your pup has medical or behavioral quirks, that’s okay! Just share anything helpful during booking or the meet & greet 💛

🏡Routine and Environment

We work from home full-time, so pups are with us the vast majority of the day! A typical routine looks like:

🌅 Morning:
• Potty break first thing
• Breakfast served separately to keep everyone safe and comfortable
• Calm settling time while we start our workday

☀️ Daytime:
• Regular potty breaks every 2–4 hours, can be more frequent if needed
• Supervised playtime in our offices, living room, and fenced yard
• Occasional errands, no more than 4–6 hours away

🌙 Evening & Bedtime:
• Dinner served separately
• Relaxing wind-down and final potty break

😴 Rest & Safety:
We crate our personal dogs anytime we’re away and at night. Your dog can:
✅ Sleep or rest in their own crate or in one of our crates near our dogs in the living room, see more about crating below in additional information.

😌Couches and Dog Beds:
Dogs are welcome to get comfy on the couch or our various dog beds… but if you prefer a no-furniture policy, we’re happy to stick to your rules to keep routines consistent.

🏊 Pool Safety:
We have an in-ground pool, but pets are never left unattended outside. Outdoor time is always supervised for everyone’s safety. There is a short fence that blocks access to the pool and the pool is covered from Sept-March. We also have a dog run in our backyard in the corner and a fenced side yard.

❤️Our Pets:
✅ Our personal animals are spayed/neutered
✅ All household pets are kept up-to-date on vaccinations
✅We do not require your animals to be vaccinated but please be aware of the risks of bringing an unvaccinated dog into our home (we have boarding dogs, foster dogs, etc coming in and out on a daily basis). We do ask that you make us aware of any missing vaccines. We run a rescue and want to make sure our foster animals remain safe from exposure to severe illnesses that are prevented by vaccines. We also want to ensure other boarding animals are safe, so we will handle unvaccinated dogs/cats in our home appropriately. (Unvaccinated animals can’t touch the ground, can only be housed in specific areas, and extra PPE/cleaning protocols are initiated)

🐾Additional Information

💊Pills or Other Medical Needs:
We *may* incur an additional charge up to an extra $10 per day. This includes adding pills to meals.

✅Meet and Greets:
We do not require a meet & greet prior to booking with us but may have some questions for you prior to or during drop off so we know what to expect.

😴Crating:
We crate all personal, foster, and boarding dogs at night or whenever we are away. This is to ensure everyone’s safety and please be aware this is generally non-negotiable, especially during the first boarding session with us. We just want to make sure everyone is safe when we are not around to supervise. We certainly do not intend to leave any animals in crates for an excessive amount of time or while we are home! We also utilize indoor Ring cameras so we can keep an eye on any boarding dogs that are crated while we are away. If a crate is an issue for you or your dog, we can chat about an xpen or a free roam room. No dog or cat will ever be left to free roam our entire home unattended.

🐕Boarding Multiple Animals:
We do occasionally board more than one animal at a time depending on the dates. We will always have foster animals in our home as part of our rescue work so please keep that in mind too. We only take on more boarding dogs if we can manage it. We know our limits… and we generally take on more boarding dogs when we have a repeat client and know their behavior and accommodations.

🦴Intact Animals:
Intact animals can be boarded with us on a case by case basis. If your animal is intact, please inquire with that being noted. If accepted, boarding an intact animal will result in higher rates.

🥩Feedings:
We feed all animals twice a day and are unable to feed more than that unless there is a specific medical need. Feedings more than twice a day due to medical needs *may* be subject to an extra charge of up to an extra $10/day.

🥰Bottom Line:
We welcome any and all kinds of animals. We can accommodate most behavioral or medical problems! Just let us know ahead of time so we know what to expect and we’re happy to make your fur baby feel at home.

We can’t wait to welcome your dog into our home! 🌟🐕✨

🐱 Adoptable Sanji 🐱

Sanji was recently returned from a trial adoption… his adopter didn’t have other cats and even though we emphasized how much Sanji needs feline friends, we decided to give it a shot since the adopter was so eager to love him. But it’s now a total reality… Sanji truly needs other cats in his forever home in order to thrive! Here’s a little bit about Sanji:

🐱 ~1 year old, neutered male, Domestic Medium Hair, black. Fully vetted

🐱 Dogs: likely Dog-friendly! He would do best with calm dogs or slow introductions, as he can be shy at first.

🐱 Cats: A must! Sanji adores other cats and absolutely needs a cat companion to help him feel confident and happy. He thrives in a multi-cat home where he can wrestle, play, and cuddle with his feline friends.

🐱 Kids: kid friendly, can be ahy at first. He’s playful but can startle easily in chaotic environments.

🐱 Humans: Once he feels safe, Sanji is affectionate and sweet! He enjoys cuddling up nearby, giving head butts, and sleeping at the foot of the bed. He’s a little shy with new people at first but warms up quickly with kindness and patience.

🐱 Litter trained: Yes! Fully litter trained and uses clumping clay litter in foster.

🐱 Fun fact: Sanji has three legs… but you’d never know it! He zips, climbs, and plays like any other cat. No special care or experience needed!

🐱 Fun fact: When he’s excited about food, he’ll spin in circles as you prepare it (yes, really 😹).

🐱 Fun fact: He’s talkative during playtime and mealtime! he loves to “chat” when he’s happy.

🐱 Fun fact: Sanji was originally trapped as a “feral” cat, but he quickly showed that he was just scared, not feral at all. He’s since blossomed into the sweetest boy!

🐱 Fun fact: Being a black cat, Sanji is often overlooked… but he’s truly one of a kind. His shiny coat, silly antics, and huge heart make him unforgettable.

✨ Just look… this boy is a shining example of resilience, sweetness, and silliness all in one sleek, three-legged package! ✨

Frank and Nana are here for boarding! As well as adoptable Scarlett and adoptable Turkey. They are both dog friendly and available for adoption through turkey even likes cats!🥰

It’s truly a pitty party right now at the hotel! Scarlett goes (foster) home tomorrow and Nana/Turkey go home (/foster) on Saturday… so plenty of spots for boarding if your furry friend needs a place to stay!😍

Your pet isn’t dog or cat friendly? No sweat! We have some cozy suites (spare bedrooms) for the ones that prefer to be with just humans!
