A life long interest in natural fibers has led me to establish an alpaca ranch.

As a life long knitter I have honed a keen interest in natural fibers. While revisiting Santa Fe a few years ago we happened to visit a local alpaca ranch and were reintroduced to alpacas who we initially met while living in Germany. The timing was opportune for a relocation so my husband, who was raised on a dairy farm, and I decided to try our hand at raising alpacas on a small scale. Since movi

ng into our ranch almost a year ago we have had our first birth and several breedings, bringing our herd size to seven. There is a lot to learn about the fiber processing end of the business so the days are far too short!
