This is the time of year when fosters are especially needed. Kitten season is here and the following groups could really use your help!

Bernalillo County Animal Care and Resource Center
High Desert Cat Rescue and Adoption
Please visit their links to see how you can be part of the community of cat caretakers. Some volunteers enjoy fostering the mama and her kittens (my favorite because the mom does the work!), some weaned kittens, or bottle babies. You could even foster senior cats to make more room in the shelters during this busy time.
We can't think of anything that is as rewarding and fun as caring for cats or kittens in your home until they can be adopted. It makes such a difference! Thank you! ❤️😃

This beautiful and super sweet 15y gal was surrendered for not eating and not getting along with other animals 😢
Albuquerque Animal Welfare did bloodwork (that's why her neck has a shaved spot) and gave her an exam and updated vaccines. She is very healthy, eats like a champ, and is doing great with the cats at Catopia! She is exceptionally friendly with people too. Please come on over this weekend to see her and our other wonderful cats this Sat/Sun between 11am-5pm 😃🐾

UPDATE - the landlord will get it fixed soon! 🎉Thankfully no cats were hurt when a back room ceiling tile fell down yesterday at Catopia. The rain/snow was beautiful but let us know we have a leak. The ceiling tile got too wet and broke and fell onto a cat food and water bowl. Thankfully we were open and the cats were out enjoying visitors instead of snacking!
Upon further investigation today, the leak is pretty big, saturating our insulation and doing some damage. Fingers crossed we can get it fixed soon and that the landlord will cover it. The kitties will be in foster for a few days while they fix it. We likely need to be closed Wednesday but will re-open Friday-Sunday 11am-5pm. Thanks for your support and see you again soon!

Mississippi from Albuquerque Animal Welfare is available to adopt! He is an 8y fella with the sweetest disposition. Our city's awesome Animal Welfare Department got him the medical care he needed, including a dental, and he recovered in a foster home with the best care. He is now healthy and ready for his forever home! Please visit Eastside AWD at Lomas and Wyoming and ask for A1913888. They are open 9:30-6 every day. You will love him! ❤️🐾🥰

We’re teaming up with Animal Balance to offer a 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 Spay and Neuter Clinic on April 25, 26, and 27 — and you're invited to sign up your furry family members! We’ll be providing safe, professional spay and neuter services for up to 300 owned pets to help keep them healthy and happy.

Help! We are suffering from cuteness overload due to the adorableness of this 5m kitten! Doc Stowell of Kokopelli Animal Clinic rescued her and her siblings and got all their medical care done. Gumbus is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. She will be at Catopia when we reopen this Saturday (unless you adopt her first!) Lucy is a 1-year-old female and Lando is a 7-month-old male who met just a few days ago but love each other already! If you'd like to adopt an adorable pair, this would be a great combination! Thanks Jon of New Game Plus - Gaming Center for hosting us today! Jon volunteers every week at Catopia and has adopted some of his own cats through us as well. He has provided such tremendous help the past two years as a volunteer and even before that when we knew him as a customer. He is amazing with people and cats and is always willing to help with anything. He even advertises for us and has helped many of our cats find their forever homes! He does so much for Catopia in addition to owning his own business. And what a cool business it is! He invited the Catopia staff to check it out and we loved it! New Game Plus has a huge selection of videos games to play but also board games, activities, and tons of things to see. It is an awesome place of community. They host events too! Please follow them and visit as soon as you get the chance at 1512 Wyoming Blvd NE. Catopia will be closed until April 12 so this is a perfect time to try a new place. You'll be glad you did! 🎮🕹️👩‍💻👾🧑‍💻

We will have some work done on our building and will re-open Saturday, April 12th. The cats will be getting lots of attention in foster homes until then, although many of them went to permanent homes this weekend! 🎉
