Our Story
Our History
2020 marks our 69th year as a family-owned and operated business here in Albuquerque. Vern and Kiku Kennedy founded New Mexican Kennels, the first pet care/boarding facility in New Mexico, in 1951. The kennel, along with the family home sits on a hilltop at the end of Yale Blvd. NE, overlooking the entire valley, with views to the East and the West.
In 1970, the business was passed down to their daughter, Juxi, and son-in-law Dan Burr. The Burr's continued to enhance setting the standard for boarding kennels in the state; positioning the operation as one of Albuquerque's Top-Rated Businesses. Our customers are assured that the care we provide their pet(s) is tailored to meet their specific needs and requirements.
NMK caters to canines, felines, birds and small animals. For more information on our facilities, visit our website, www.newmexicankennels.com
All pet guests are treated to private accommodations, fed super-premium foods or your own food at no extra charge, enjoy climate controlled facilities, indoor/outdoor runs for dogs, and one-on-one personal playtimes.
