🤩 Now available for RACE CE - RECOVER CPR for general practice and shelter medicine learning path on ASPCA learn!

These courses take the 2024 RECOVER CPR guidelines and make them more available for general practice and shelter medicine staff. I explain what to do if you don't have more advanced medications, monitoring, or point of care bloodwork testing at your clinic.

🚨New RECOVER CPR training alert!

Welcome to your RECOVER CPR training resource for general practice and shelter medicine. I've taken the material from the 2024 RECOVER CPR guidelines and demystified them for general and shelter clinics - including ways to amend the algorithms if you don't have more advanced medications, a defibrillator, or an ECG or capnograph.

In addition to the basic and advanced life support videos, I've recently uploaded a 3-part review of the CPR new cognitive aids you can view separately or all together in one training.

This is a free, interactive, on-demand resource for you and your staff - A great way to supplement the official RECOVER CPR online courses. To access the recordings, login or sign up for your free ASPCA Learn account, and search "CPR" in the content library to find the trainings:

We are more likely to make errors when symptoms of burnout and stress are present. Not to mention, we should have a toolkit of practices to help maintain our nervous system balance in the stressful world of vet med and specifically anesthesia! Next time you’re feeling stressed at work, take a few minutes and practice this technique. Notice the shift - it will bring a calm focus easing symptoms of stress and anxiety.

💙 That’s a wrap on Iveccs 2025!

🫶🏻 I had such a wonderful time presenting on some of my favorite topics, was humbled to co-facilitate a workshop with some anesthesia queens, and have some great conversations about elevating patient care and bringing more autonomy to credentialed technicians.

I'm so excited to speak at IVECCS 2025 in San Diego in a few weeks. Here's how I prepare to make sure my audience gets the MOST out of the lectures and trainings.

Do you leave conferences feeling like you took in so much information but can barely remember a thing? Me too. Turns out, there's a better way...

At best we retain 3 pieces of information in an hour lecture. At BEST. So how can we make the most of didactic lectures as speakers for our audience? Incorporating research proven adult learning techniques. In all of my lectures I provide the following:

☑️Aim for audience participation or reflection at least every 7 min
☑️Take time in the presentation to ask the audience to recall what they just learned in a quiz instead of adding more information they will struggle to remember (this is called a learning boost and is a proven way the audience better retain the information)
☑️Less words on slides, more simple structure featuring visual aids, real-life examples, and breaking down complex anatomy/physiology into "chunks"
☑️ Accessibility: Avoiding red and green for color blind folks, large, clear, easy to read words, adding a label on certain slides with large take-home points to take a picture with their phone for those who struggle to focus - 😍 Audience members have remarked in my feedback this is their FAVORITE

🚨Attn Veterinary Technicians!!

🙋🏻‍♀️ Are you frustrated in the OR running anesthesia and reaching out to the surgeon to help with troubleshooting and treatment? Does this prolong your patients’ hypotension? Does it lead to administering unnecessary fluids instead of targeting treatment to RELATIVE hypovolemia?

🤔What if there was another way?

🩺 The hypotension algorithm is a standard operating procedure that helps give more autonomy to veterinary technicians, expedite flow, and elevate patient care. And it’s just ONE of my S.O.P.’s.
