Working on impulse control skills with Reno during a follow-up lesson. One thing we focused on was understanding that just because the leash gets picked up does not mean the command is over. Dogs have to learn to stay consistent and hold commands until they are clearly released.

These small details are a big part of creating clear communication, structure, and accountability in training. Even after our board and train dogs go home, we continue working with owners through lessons and support to help maintain and build on that progress long term.

Play with your dog more. Like, actually get into it and play. Not only does it help build your relationship with them, but it helps them dump all that pent up energy and frustration that can lead to bigger issues. Playing is one of the best things you can do for your dog.

Shadow goes home in a couple days and she’s doing awesome.

When she came in, walks were tough and public places made her nervous/reactive. Now she’s walking clean on a loose leash, staying engaged, and moving through new environments with way more confidence.

This is the kind of progress we aim for real world, not just in the house.

Shadow is here for a 3-week board & train. She’s a very sweet, loving girl but as a big German Shepherd, she’s been extremely difficult to walk.

Her owners are elderly and have a disability, so getting her proper exercise hasn’t been easy. Because of that, she’s put on a little weight and developed some pulling habits that make walks unsafe.

During her stay, our main focus is leash manners, impulse control, and keeping her engaged so she’s not getting distracted and pulling her owners over.
