Throwback Thursday
This is my dad and I the first day I carried a real gun afield. Notice the matching“A” hats. Our little league team was the Astros and both our middle names are Alan. I remember thinking that was so cool. lol. My gun was a 20 gauge single shot New England Partner. If you were a kid and started with one of those guns and still enjoy shooting sports today you were just determined to push through no matter the obstacle. Those guns punished on both ends, but no matter how sore my shoulder or face got, I enjoyed every minute.

Scout is a young setter that’s been with us for about a week. She has tons of natural point and is coming along nicely.

Pointing Puppies.
Here are some pictures from working pups the last few days. The two pointers Milo(black/white) and Echo(white) are mine and the setter is a training dog. They are three very different dogs but all show promise.

Backing drill with Britt with some help from Ace. Its nice to have a dog as steady as Ace to run with training dogs.

I didn’t set this up as a training drill but when my wife’s Aussie puppies joined Britt and I in the field, I decided to take the opportunity to see how she would handle the pressure and distraction. Britt has one week left for her 30 days with us. I think she’s coming along nicely.
