Big papa is a picture of broiler perfection at 16 pound he not only crows but activily breeds the cornish hens. it is not recommended or common to keep these guys this long but life circumstances have been standing in our way of slaughtering them. We switched them off grower feed to prevent the continuation of rapid growth and free ranging keeps them free of disease and in good physical condition.

I'm so excited by all the plants growing in the garden! This feels like a huge accomplishment!🥦🥕🍅🥔

It's been a while since we posted an update on our meat birds. This year because of the late winter and colder then average temperatures we have had to do things a little bit different in order to provide constant access to heat lamps but we still have some very healthy, clean and happy birds. they don't travel far from the coop but they have free choice feed available and they enjoy laying in the leaves and dirt eating bugs. Each night they happily return to the warmth and safety of the coop. 2 weeks from now these birds will head to freezer camp.

We started a tomato growing experiment today.

The question: which method of starting tomatoes is fastest

A. Tomatoes grown from packaged seeds
B. Tomatoes grown from fresh wet seeds scooped out of a ripe tomato
C. A thin slice of ripe tomatoe lightly covered with dirt.

Each day we will count the number of seedlings growing and record the data

We each made a prediction today
We are writing a hypothesis tomorrow
And we will write thesis and conclusion when we plant them in the garden
