We love a good tank upgrade ❤️

Remember that while a 20 long is reccomended by some for adult leopard geckos, more space is a better space. Leo now has much more room to explore, more decorations for enrichment, and we are now able to include a humid hide for assistance during shed.

**paper towels are a temporary substrate as we monitor how Leo adjusts to the new tank

EDIT: per advice from a vet med friend, we have removed the hammock from Leo’s tank as it poses a risk to claws, teeth, and extremities.

Today’s featured pet of the day: the common house cat!

Did you know?

😺cats slow blink to people/animals they don’t see as threats. Try slow blinking at your cat and see if they do it back!

😺wet food is better for your cats with dry kibble as an occasional filler. Cats get most of their hydration from what they eat.

😺Cats use their bathroom habits to communicate. If your cat isn’t using the Litterbox, they’re trying to tell you something. Get them checked out at the vet for common ailments like kidney stones or a UTI.

😺 while they’ll drink still water from a bowl, most cats prefer running water. Instincts tell them that running water is cleaner. Try getting a filtered water bowl for your cat.

Let’s welcome our newest resident to Margaret’s Menagerie! This is Leo the leopard gecko.

Some leopard gecko facts:
-juvenile leopard geckos require around 20gallons worth of tank, while adults require AT LEAST 40 gallons. More space is a better space!

-their markings come in over time. As they age, their spots and patterns will change.

-they are insectivores, so they do not eat plant matter. Leo’s favorites are crickets, and meal worms.

-Leopard geckos are crepuscular, meaning they are out most during dawn and dusk.
