Such an amazing weekend at NIPPO North America Expo 2026! Considering I have not shown NIPPO style in about 7 yrs, I was beyond pleased that “Nobu” placed 2nd in a large entry of about 17 impressive male Shibas. I am grateful to the trust that I was given by the Shiba community for this amazing & sweet boy. Thank you Mrs. Hisae Dickey for trusting me to pick him up from his Professional Handler, care for him, train him NIPPO style, transport him cross country and steer him to such a wonderful win. Thank you to Honorable NIPPO Judge Mr. Toyokazu Kobayashi.

It’s always hard letting them go. 😢
Another Quality Home Found for one of our Shikoku Ken! We met this wonderful couple at one of our Shikoku Fanciers of Northern California (Breed Enthusiast Club) Educational Events. At that event 3 years ago, Daito completely won them over! Guardian Home placements don’t always work out, but the perfect situation & family will always come around for a great dog. If I could describe any of our dogs as bombproof, it would be this boy and those are the dogs that are ideal for these arrangements. The transition is smooth and the new family have an easier time. Remembering the breed and previously owning Shibas, the family came to me for a puppy this past year, and since they just had a baby I felt a young (5yo) retired show dog that was already potty trained, leash trained and fully socialized would be better for their situation. They live close in case we ever want to use him for stud and if all goes well in the arrangement, eventually he will be fully signed over to them on the registration and until then he will still be their Forever Dog for the rest of his life. This is a partnership we are fully celebrating! We’ve enjoyed spending time with this family and could not imagine a better home for sweet Daito. He has always adored kids AND even more exciting, the young daughter is eager to start P*e Wee class practice and wants to try to become a Jr. Handler to show Daito on her own! Have a great life Daito, we are happy you are getting all this love and attention! 💕🥰🐾🌸

A few more points till she earns her CM4! Suzume is the First Shikoku (male also?) to earn her CM3 out of the Bred By Classes and now we are shooting for another record breaking title! Thank you Judge Mr. James Fehring was awarding our bred by girl a Best In Open Show! Now we are on our way to NIPPO Expo in Colorado!

Updated for clarification **
Client Question: Why don’t you show a lot in UKC or IABCA Shows? Seems you focus more on AKC. I notice some breeders have more (or only) one of those titles and not many/any AKC titles. Why don’t you have those titles plus the AKC (CM) titles?
Multiple reasons:
-As a kennel club, AKC is overall considered the Gold Standard, is more respected, holds the power in having the breed fully recognized, has the more experienced judges, has a strong focus on education (Meet The Breed) and AKC shows get the breed in front of more quality of individual involved in the fancy.
- Personally, IF I WERE LOOKING FOR A PUPPY FROM A BREEDER, I would not impressed by UKC & IABCA titles ALONE, without AKC CM titles. (I’m restating that for more clarification) In the case of IABCA, you can get an Int Ch in one weekend! Your dog does NOT have to compete against or beat other Shikoku/dogs in order to get a title. With AKC they are competing with other dogs and only gain points if they beat other dogs in the ring. Don’t get me wrong, I have done UKC and IABCA in the past and some of my dog have those Honorary Ch, International Ch, Jr…. and I enjoy the write ups and feedback the judges give, but they are not a priority. Finding time to show, train, breed, whelp litters, work with clients (and have a personal life) is challenging. So when I show, I focus on quality over quantity.
