FAAS’s mission is to shelter and care for abandoned companion animals, find them new homes, and prevent animal cruelty through education and outreach. Through a unique public-private partnership, FAAS has managed the open-intake City of Alameda Animal Shelter since 2012. With innovative programs, community partnerships, and a passionate base of volunteers and donors, each year FAAS saves on averag

e 97% of the nearly 1,000 lost, abandoned, and homeless animals who enter the city’s shelter. Readers of Alameda Magazine have recognized FAAS as the community’s Best Nonprofit Group for seven consecutive years.

Huncho is a smart, independent Chow who’s still building confidence😌 He can be cautious in new situations, so he’s looking for a Chow-experienced home that understands the breed and is willing to give him time, patience, and consistency🫶

Once he trusts you, Huncho is sweet, playful, enjoys treats and pets, and has shown he can be a calm walking buddy. He’s still working on his leash skills (squirrels are VERY distracting 🐿️😂), but he’s making progress

Huncho will thrive with someone who can meet him where he’s at, give him space to settle in, and help him discover just how good life can be 🐾
