Minkaās 3rd time ever on a dock and we took first place in the amateur division! We did the long jump where they measure the distance based off the dogās rear legs when hitting the water and the speed retrieval where she was timed to retrieve the bumper at the end of the pool.
The speed retrieval was completely new and she only saw the picture at the event. Watching her build her confidence and the complete difference from the 1st rep to the 2nd was rewarding.
We received many compliments from the event staff of how quick she learns!
Dockdogs is not an AKC recognized event, however, it was a fun day at Put In Bay!
Minka loved every second and Iām grateful for the experience. Will be posting some clips as well!
The competition was INSANE to say the least. So many talented teams. When I saw we placed the top 3 before finals, I was in shock. Then as we completed our 2nd round in the finals for amateur, we exited the pool, and the announcement was made that we took 1st.
Watching the semi- pro and masters was exciting. Those teams have a great relationship and put a lot of effort into their form, their dogās health, and education.
Think we found a new sport to focus on and train for. Proud of this little pocket mal for giving it her all.šŗā¤ļø
