So very grateful for Jimmie Jenkins and her generosity! We were able to purchase a Kuranda bed and two replacement fabrics!! Thank you so very much for all you do for us! Angel sends you lots of hugs!
Also to Nick, who has supported us for years! He has also purchased a Kuranda bed for the babies! Thank you so very much!!
We are in desperate need of Kuranda beds for our long term fosters. We were in the process of replacing our hard plastic benches when the pandemic hit. We were trying to purchase at least one a month and are just unable to keep doing so at this time. We had hoped that business would have picked up by now, but it still has been very slow. We are getting by, but this leaves us no extra income to be able to get more beds. We also need the fabric replacement, too, for a few of the ones that have been chewed up. We board a good bit of fosters for some rescues and most times they end up staying long term. The Kuranda beds are much more comfortable for them than the hard plastic benches. I'm providing the link to the beds and fabric replacements if you are so inclined to help us out with giving these babies a little more comfort. If you'd like you can also donate to us through paypal. Our email is [email protected] and please put in the notes "Kuranda Bed"
Thank you so very much! We so appreciate everything that everyone has done for us during this tough time! Stay safe and well!

Kuranda makes and sells high quality replacement fabrics for original, standard, and aluminum Kuranda beds.
It’s been a rough week.
The storm that blew through last week, hit us hard. We sustained at least two lightning strikes somewhere on the property. (Have only found a few spots where they hit) we are not sure if we had direct hits to house and kennel, but the strikes blew through our electrical lines, our phone lines AND our water lines. This in turn blew out internet modems, phone, (severed external phone lines and blew out wall jacks), satellite, and outlets which tripped breakers in the house and kennels. I was sitting in kennel 2 when the electrical current traveled through the water hose, out the handle and onto the kennel fence and blew out the bottom of one of the gates. Power went out, one of the power poles was blown to smithereens and a large tree fell and took down the power lines with it. Scariest thing I’ve ever been through. The pups are all ok, but were a little shaken up. We did lose a few things but it is all replaceable. It could have been so much worse.
We are still super slow with not many boarders. Not sure if it will get any better this year.
But we are pushing through and hopeful that things will turn around next year.
Because we seem to be getting a lot of late evening storms we decided to unplug the phone and modem at night after closing. So if you call after hours and not get an answering machine, that is why. We will plug them back in once we come in the next morning. We will try to figure out something in the future, maybe just getting a cheap answering machine to have plugged in at night.
You can always reach us by email at
The email connects directly to my cell phone and is always checked.
Thanks so much ❤️❤️ Keep us in your thoughts
Good news! All of our fosters that came down with kennel cough are no longer coughing. We are going on 5 days cough free! Woot. We will continue to make sure to thoroughly clean and disinfect (as we do every day) both kennels to insure that there is no residual kennel cough lingering. Thank you all for your support and understanding these last few weeks. It was another blow to us but we made it through this too. Business is still super slow and I have a feeling with the increase of covid cases lately it will remain slow the rest of year but we are pushing through day by day.
If any of your pups ever come down with kennel cough and you need a good remedy to help get rid of it, let us know and we can send you a link to the products we have used.
Thanks so much!!
Kelli and Michael
Heads up folks, seems we have kennel cough at our facility. All of our pups have been vaccinated but likely the ones that came in two weeks ago shed the virus after receiving the vaccine (normal occurrence unfortunately) or when they went in for spay/neuters. Who really knows....
We have moved all of our foster pups into Kennel 2 and have been cleaning and disinfecting everything to lessen exposure to our clients. If you’ve boarded anytime in the last week and half please contact us and we can give you some advice and products to help with the coughing. So very sorry for the inconvenience but it happens. We currently have everyone on elderberry and an immune booster to get it knocked out, which shouldn’t be more than a week and half to two weeks max.
Please contact us with any concerns.
Thank you so much!
We've gotten a few boarders these last two weekends. Five last weekend and one through the week and into this past weekend along with another this past weekend. We were glad to see some new muzzles!! hahah
We did get the PPP but it wasn't much, but it paid our bills for May and into June, so we are grateful for that.. We also got an email about the EIDL and are eligible for up to $27,000. We have decided not to go that route, because the pay back is for 30 years, and right now, not knowing the fate of us or our country, it's probably a good idea NOT to owe the GOVERNMENT money. We did get an advance of $1000 so we will pay that back (or be able to have it forgiven since it's going to payroll and utilities)
We would not have made it these last few months without the support of our clients, friends, family members, our rescue partners, who have stepped up in a huge way, and to many of you we don't even know! You have been helping get us through what has been one of the worst times in our business history.
❤️❤️❤️WE ARE BEYOND GRATEFUL TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!! ❤️❤️❤️
We are hoping that business will continue to pick up every weekend and we will just keep plugging along until things can get back to normal!!
Monday April 20th
We are still open, but no boarders..
We are hanging in there, but haven’t received any funding under the Cares Act which is now depleted.
I’m a numbers gal
We’ve lost 81% of our income for the month of April compared to last April.
So far from Jan through April, our numbers are 38% lower than the totals from the same time period last yr.
But we are hanging on.. because of everyone that has helped us..
Thank you to Michael Dowda for hanging on with me.. He could have easily gone and found another job. I wouldn’t blame him if he had or does..
Things are so unknown right now.
SC is opening up, but not so much the travel industry, so we still probably won’t see much of a change unfortunately.
If you’d like to pre-book a stay, let us know.
If you’d like to donate anything you can do so through PayPal. Our PayPal is [email protected].
Here’s also a PayPal me link
All of your support has so been greatly appreciated and I can’t say thank you enough!
We miss all of our babies so very much.
We are still hanging in there and so greatly appreciate everyone’s support during this time of uncertainty!! We are fighting to remain open, using this time to do some updating, deep cleaning and will start painting soon. The lane is getting there, still have some smoothing to do but the large holes are filled in! Of course our tractor decided it was going to take a break haha so as soon as we can get it back up and running, we will be able to do some more scraping.
We so greatly appreciate all of your donations, and cannot thank you enough! It’s hard to even find the words to even say how grateful we are!
If you’d like to donate, we do have a PayPal link
Also if you’d like to prepay for a stay that you will plan on taking at a later date, you can do that also, just send us an email at [email protected]
We have also applied for the SBA EIDL and a PPP, to make sure we can remain open.
If any first responders, LEO’s, medical personnel, or any essential workers need us to care for their pets, let us know, we are available.
We will continue to be open for as long as we can, with the hopes of scraping by until our world gets back right again. Our prayers are with everyone that has been directly or indirectly affected by covid19.
Go to paypal.me/windinglanekennels and type in the amount. Since it’s PayPal, it's easy and secure. Don’t have a PayPal account? No worries.
We love our Angel cakes, our Gelly belly. And we love you Jimmie Jenkins ❤️
We have a PayPal me link now.
Or you can use our PayPal email [email protected].
We also have Zelle through the bank.
If you’d like to “reserve a stay for your pet” for future use, we can do that too. It would kinda be like you purchasing a gift card from us to use at a future date.
If you’d like to help offset our costs to board our fosters, it would so be appreciated. It usually costs us around $15 to care for each boarded pet (client or foster) so we take a serious hit by only charging our rescue partners $5. Our full rates charged to our clients helps offset these costs and allows us to charge very little to these rescues.
We appreciate everyone’s support, and are overwhelmed by the help that we’ve already received. There aren’t any words to even begin to describe how thankful and grateful we are!
Channel 12 news did an interview with us this morning about how COVID19 has impacted our business. Check it out at 6 pm tonight (Thursday)
We are beyond grateful for everyone’s support. Especially to the rescues we are fostering for. If not for you all, we’d be closed already.
Our doors are still open, and we can make arrangements to board any pets if needed. Just let us know.
We are hanging on and hopeful we can pull through this and continue to provide the CSRA with all of its pet care needs.
As most of you know, we are a very small kennel. We rely on what little bit of business that comes in each month to carry us through each month, and the spring/summer months and holidays to carry us through our down time January through mid-March. As of last week we have no income coming in at all. It has hit us hard and this is just the beginning. We are currently trying to get an Economic Injury Disaster Loan from the SBA, I’m afraid this will be the only thing that will save us from closing our doors. We are praying it does not come down to this but the hardest thing about this situation is the uncertainty of how COVID-19 will impact all of us and our country. We will continue to do everything in our power not to close and will continue to provide our services whenever and wherever needed. We will continue to care for our fosters, that are currently with us, regardless of what happens. That will never change.
We really don’t know what else to do at this point but will continue to keep our doors open as long as we can.
We appreciate all of you and we hope that things will get back to normal soon for us and for each of you.
Due to the risks of COVID-19 and because our business relies mostly on travel, we will have limited hours until March 31st.
Monday through Friday our hours will be 8:30-11 and 3:30-530. Saturday 8:30-10 and 4-5 and Sunday 4-5:30. We will make arrangements for anyone that needs us outside those hours, just email, call, or PM us. We are also available if you need anything for your pets, can’t get to the store, can’t get to vet appt, need someone to come take them for a walk, just give us a shout.
We hope that everyone stays healthy and out of harms way and we look forward to a great summer. We will also be doing some updating of our facility soon and we are working on getting the driveway fixed. Stay tuned! 🐾🐾
2020 Aiken’s Choice started the nominating process today. If you’re so inclined, head over there and give us a nomination for the kennel category ❤️

Long term foster Bert, with NorthStar Rescue has finally been adopted!! He starts his journey up north! We love you Bert!
Last photo is Bert’s Rescue pic before he came to us.
A longtime foster, Bernie, with North Star Lab Rescue, is finally on his journey to his forever home!! He’s been with us too long, lived the majority of his life as a bait dog and was burned from his neck to his tail. He has so many physical scars but he is a true testament of how forgiving dogs are! Happy tails Bernie!! We love you!
This is MJ aka Mikey. He is one of our fosters and is looking for his furever home. He’s been in boarding way too long and would love to be your cuddle bug. Goofy boy, good with most dogs. Loves all people and kids. Up to date, on HW prevention and fixed. Here’s his profile with Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee
It is with great sadness that I had to say goodbye to my beloved thoroughbred Sassy Sandra aka Princess Sandy today. She fought very hard these last 4+ months to kick an infection that just would not respond to any antibiotics that we threw at her.. Vet said she looked at the area of her frontal sinus and is pretty confident it looked like cancer, and is why the antibiotics didn't work.. so I made the right decision.. She fought.. she really did.. she was tired.. I knew it, and it was the right thing to let her go and help her along.. She's fought through so much in her life, being on the racetrack, being dumped, an impaction that should have killed her, going blind in both eyes, a torn tendon in her foot, and then the infection.. yeah she's had a rough life.. But I've loved her through it all and I will so miss her.. She was a fantastic horse..
I will never forget you girl and will love you forever...
This is her back in the day before she went blind.
Aiken’s Choice award nominations are up. I don’t think we’ve ever been nominated or remember there ever being a kennel category. We would love to have your support! Help us by nominating us in the kennel category. You’ll have to ‘write us in’ for nomination. Thanks so much!!
