Mustang Chronicles Day 265 -

I truly don’t think I’ve ever been happier. After months of hard work and patience Venice has come around to the idea of a domestic life. Dare I say he even enjoys the domesticated life. The first video is one of the first times I ever worked with him. He was skittish, nervous and borderline unwilling to be around people. Now, not only does he love to be pet/scratched, he is the horse the is the most excited to work and hang out with people in my barn. I can’t believe how far he has come and I can’t wait to see what the next few months hold for us!

Mustang Chronicles Day 256 -

Venice is finally in a proper pasture!

After a small break due to the craziness of the spring semester, Venice has finally come off the back burner. He has made a lot of progress in the past four months and he is now fully halter broke and is starting to lead! Next step is working on getting his feet trimmed!

Mustang Chronicles Day 128 -

Well after four months of hard work, colic, broken fingers, and massive rain storms, Venice is finally a haltered horse! We still have lots more work ahead of us but I’m so proud of how far he has come.

Mustang Chronicles Day 125-

There hasn’t been a lot of updates on Venice lately with the holidays and the spring semester starting but we are SO close to getting him haltered! Also enjoy the clip of him trying to eat my gloves 😂

Mustang Chronicles Day 85 -

Venice loves to make sure the camera is rolling and catching all his best angles when we are training 😂

The last week I have taken a step back with Venice’s training as I believe we were heading in a negative direction. Now with a change in the type of reinforcement I use and making sure I’m not rushing him, Venice has made MASSIVE improvements. We are working our way towards desensitizing his face so the haltering process goes as smoothly as possible.

Mustang Chronicles Day 81-

About a month ago I acquired a new barn cat named Sushi. Yesterday she decided it was high time I let her join a training session with Venice. The way these two interact cracks me up. I’m not sure if it is because they are both (sorta) wild but they will often sit and stare at each other from opposite sides of Venice’s fence line. Enjoy this short video of of Sushi trying to befriend Venice and yelling at me to feed her dinner 😂.

After some bodywork and new shoes, Teddy is feeling better than ever! This is his first time cantering in about eight months and he is happy to be back. Next steps is getting jumping and going out schooling. Stay tuned for more content on this exceptional OTTB!

Mustang Chronicles Day 67-

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to work with Venice as he has been quite sick. Luckily he seems to have pulled out of the rough patch so in the meantime here is me introducing the halter to him for the first time! I’m so proud of him and how far he has come!
