Have a great photo of your dog doing Barnhunt? Want to be on the Barnhunt page as their Monthly Banner image? Here is how!

It's also July 1! And some of you should have post-shut down photos and brags! I'd love to see them, and we all want to hear about you and your dog as we start the sport back up. Have a fun mask to share? Show us that too! I'll choose a photo for the top banner for the month. Note that in order to be considered for the top banner you photo has to be landscape (wider than tall), but even if your photo doesn't meet the parameters we still want to celebrate with you.

Accomplishments today include finishing the siding, Heather and I moved the tarp garage back where Shana and I built it and secured it to the ground and to the barn so no more tents running loose in the agility field! We got started on some clean up around the barn and my fabulous young strong neighbors are moving the rest of the floor matting over to the new tarp garage for storage and to free up the stall again.

I could not Love Barn Hunt Association any more than I do right now!

Eight minutes. 46 Seconds. He pleaded. He was respectful. In the end, he begged for his Mamma. And then he died.

Beautiful message from the creator of Barn Hunt Robin Nuttall.

It's June 1 of a terrible year; probably collectively the worst in my lifetime. The challenges we are facing are difficult and affect us all. We know this, and acknowledge it. "Stay safe, stay well" has deep meaning for us now.

It's hard for all of us. For competitors who maybe have older dogs nearing the end of their careers or young dogs that need to get out. For Clubs struggling to somehow make ends meet. For Judges who would typically be able to get at least part of their living from the sport; and for the organization as a whole.

Barn Hunt itself will be fine. I've had some very generous offers of donations. Those are not needed at this time, though the thought and sentiment behind them are so appreciated. Thank you. If that time ever comes I will certainly let you know, but it's not here yet and not likely to be, thank goodness.

At times like these sports like Barn Hunt may seem superficial and unnecessary. And maybe they are. But maybe, just maybe, we can act as a tiny spot of normality in the chaos. We can be a place where people can just focus on dogs and friendships. An oasis. A respite. A place where all are welcome and kindness and courtesy prevails.

As we start back up into active competitions, let's all strive to find that joy again. Watch the dogs. They show us their happiness, we only need to follow their lead.

And share with us your stories of your old dogs getting ready to retire, or already retired. Your young dogs you want to start this year. I want to see your pictures and read your words. I think we all do. I'll pick a photo for our June cover from your submissions.

Stay safe, and stay well. --Robin

Well. It has been a wait, hasn't it. But guess what. TODAY we are back.

Yep, you heard right. Today is our first day back since March 15, with a Trial in CO with Rocky Mountain Ratters. And Friday, we will have a trial in Lexington KY with Bluegrass Dog Sports.

We're taking it day by day and week by week. There could be some future setbacks. But your unwavering faith, support, and energy has taken us through what I hope was the very worst of it. Onward and upward!

Peaches taking her scent detection to a new level with the closed trash cans - I’m super proud of her, especially since she’s never worked with these props before and would usually need some time to warm up to them, but this time she was completely on board with them from the start and quickly caught on to what I was asking for. Good job Peaches!

As we get closer to returning to some events happening (May 15-16), I would like everyone to review the COVID-19 rules again, which I have tweaked a bit. All changes are highlighted in the document.

It is also a good time to be clear about mask wearing. ETA: A mask is a covering over nose and mouth, not N95, but cloth, surgical, etc.

If you enter a Barn Hunt event, you MUST follow all of our rules about mask wearing. It is not negotiable, these rules are mandatory. If you do not wish to comply with these rules, do not enter the event.

As of now, the mandatory mask wearing affects all events through the end of June. Whether or not that is extended depends on a number of factors we cannot at this time predict.

I understand that this decision is very popular with some people and very unpopular with others. However, the rules stand. If a competitor shows up to an event and does not comply with the rules, that competitor will be asked to leave the event and no refund will be offered. That actually applies to more than just COVID, but you get the gist.

All of us are very ready for Barn Hunt to start up again! Get those masks ready, and let's go! :)

We have gotten several inquires about whether or not the Peach Blossom Cluster was still scheduled. The answer is YES, we are still scheduled for June 17-21. We are not part of the other cluster that did cancel.

So please share with anyone that may have heard misinformation about the Peach. There may be some deliberately sharing misinformation so we would definitely like to stop the rumors.

See you in Perry!

This was posted by Robin Nuttall in the Barn Hunt Association Rules page. Please read everything and ensure you understand.

Since it blew up, let's talk a little about the waiver. Note that this waiver was written and developed with legal oversight. No, it was not "just made up."

The COVID rules already state that you are not to come to an event if you're sick. So there's that. Sick? Don't come.

Now let's look at the waiver and break it down.

"I/we certify that I/we do not, to my/our knowledge, have COVID-19 at the time of attending this event. Nor have I/we been in contact with or exposed to any known carrier of COVID-19 within the past 14 days."

As far as you know, you don't have COVID, and you're not sick, and you haven't been exposing yourself to people who have been sick; not associated with anyone who turns out to have had COVID. A known carrier.

"I/we have not been tested within the last 14 days."

This is the sentence that's confusing people. First, we know that in order to be tested at all you have to have compelling symptoms (right now anyway, hopefully that will change). So this sentence means that you haven't had such compelling symptoms in the past 14 days that you had to be tested.

"If I/we have had the virus, I/we certify that we have had at least two negative tests 14 or more days prior to the Event and have been released by government officials and/or health care providers to resume normal activity without limit."

Just what it says. This sentence is for people who HAVE HAD THE VIRUS FOR SURE. Right now government regulations are stating that in order to be called free of COVID, you need to have at least two negative tests for active infection. Note that I am not talking about antibody tests here, but tests for the actual infection. If that changes, the waiver will change.

"I/we understand that we have entered and are competing at this Barn Hunt event entirely at my/our own risk and take full responsibility for my/our own health and safety during this Event. I/we pledge to follow all Barn Hunt Association and specific Club Event rules and requirements to mitigate any possibility of infecting others or becoming infected. I/we will also cooperate with any health department and/or State/Local guidelines that have jurisdiction in the area in which the Event is taking place. The Barn Hunt Association LLC and the [insert club name] are in no way liable for any present or future COVID-19 infection incurred at any time by any person, in attendance or not in attendance, during or after this Event."

This part is non-controversial I think, and easy to understand.

I don't know where anybody came up with a requirement for 3 tests before they could enter Barn Hunt but that's not true.

No one should enter an event until they are comfortable doing so, and until local, state, and federal guidelines say they can. For some states with low infection levels that may come faster than states with higher infection levels.
