Teddy went home today. He was a good dog when he got here two weeks ago. As I drove to his house, I hoped I was returning a better dog and I hoped his owners were happy with the results and would put in the work to make sure he reached his full potential. I did, they were and they absolutely will. They had so many questions and worked so well with him with just a little guidance and Teddy was so there for it. There is no doubt in my mind that they will make sure their boy is the best he can be and I am so happy for the enthusiasm and so proud of them. Teddy is pictured here with his brother Milo, who I am fostering. They worked hard, played hard and Milo, for one, is exhausted!

Teddy is getting comfortable with his downs. He’s a smart guy who likes to take his time and get it right. His brother is my foster and they’ve been having a blast but when it’s time to get to work, he’s all over it!

When Daisy arrived for training, she was wearing a harness attached to a retractable leash. One of the concerns these wonderful owners had was pulling during walks. So once we started training, I put the harness and retractable away and fitted her with a prong collar. Heat prevented us from spending a lot of time outside but when we trained, she was amazing. She was easy on her walks and interested in everything and anything around her without getting crazy.
When I brought her home, I explained that there were only two things wrong with her walking on a leash—the harness and the retractable, the worst dog walking combo ever. Both teach a dog to drive forward, which is the opposite of what they were looking for. We went through how to use it properly and when I left the house, I forgot it. I told them I’ll pick it up next month but by all means, use it and get accustomed to it.

I heard from them today. She is doing amazing on her walks. They are thrilled with the prong and will be getting one for her.
I love good, solid dog owners. Daisy is already a great dog and she’s young; they are going to get her to her full potential.

This is a short and sweet video—Daisy is doing amazing and I am very proud of her. Leash work is also going well but limited to very early or very late but she is catching on to that and seems to be enjoying herself. The hottest day of this heat wave is tomorrow so that’s when our Lowe’s field trip will be. Stay tuned!

Our family just keeps growing!

Daisy, an 865 Rescue and Rehome alumni, arrived yesterday for a 2-week board and train. We spent yesterday decompressing and today, this sweet little pup and I get to work.
