Last week of Owens journey in our board and train program! He is now home and doing an amazing job playing with the family's new puppy that he once attacked before training. Engaging with their grandson and letting his leaders take care of their daughters pup that came over and growled at Owen!
I am so happy with how he came along and one of my favorite things is to watch a dog in a fight or flight state of mind come to a balanced more confident state 😍

Owen went from crying and barking in the kennel, snapping at my group, peeing and pooping in the house. Not respecting boundaries of doorways. Didn't understand that he couldn't go in certain rooms of the house or upstairs.
To now being able to be around my group more confidently, no more snapping at them. He doesn't just run up the stairs anymore even without a gate he understands that he's simply just not allowed. No more crying and barking in the kennel. And no more accidents in the house!

Owen is absolutely struggling in this swirl of fight or flight. Sometimes he's scared and just avoids and other times he lashes out like he did with my crew. My girl Winter (the white fluffy cockapoo in this video) did an amazing job of backing off, sat down and just looked up to me for guidance. She's had her struggles like Ownen is having so I think she knows how he feels. I acquired her a little over a year ago. She bit everyone in her previous family kids included and the last straw was giving grandma stitches. So super proud of her in that moment!!
Let's get Owen balanced back out and give him the confidence building he needs to take these uncomfortable situations head on without the constant need to lash out or shut down!

These 2 pups went from being friends and playing to random fights that got completely out of hand. Parents were bitten in the crossfire just trying to get them apart. Separate times each pup got to spend time with the family in separate rooms. The dog fights were keeping the family separate in many ways. So we needed to get some order back in this home.
This is my 4th visit and the first time they'd be back together in the same room in months! The foundation was built that neither pup was in charge and the family was at the top of the pack and they were to follow. Now they both can enjoy time with all members of the family together and with each other 🥰

To the rambunctious Atlas getting into everything, jumping up, pulling on the leash, no coming when called and definitely no down time..... To the new improved Atlas! Calm, attentive, listens still a spunky puppy, but with boundaries, expectations and accountability he has shaped into quite the gentleman 🥰

Outside playtime is a must!
We have Magnificent and Marlon back for a few days just boarding with us.
Lucky is what his family calls "crack dog" 😅 He's all go non stop so working on calming him down and realizing what is acceptable behavior. Leo is his housemate, building his confidence so he can relax is our goal. He barks at people just walking by his home and taking him for walks he can get vocal especially towards other dogs. He's insecure so challenging that mindset with building positive interactions is huge!
Then we have Grandpa, he's a hearding dog so those instincts to heard have spilled over into nipping at the kiddos he shares his home with. Understanding those boundaries that not everything needs to be herded 🤣
